Official Bal en Blanc 14 Review!

ok so here I am, 5am, normally the time when Armin would get on.

Let me just say, the organization of this party was absolutely horrible. The lineup was ridiculous, terrible. It was the worst I've ever seen in 5 years that I've been to Bal en Blanc. IN past years, anyone would waltz right in anytime between 1am and 3am. This year was an absolute nightmare.

We showed up at 12:00 and the lineup was outside the door by the metro. By 1:30 same thing. By 3:00, we showed up in line and moved maybe 30 metres in 1 hour. That is unacceptable. For a party that costs 100$ minimum to show up (if you are lucky), this was an absolute disaster.

Luckily I sold my ticket in the lineup around 4am. I missed Infected Mushroom entirely and most of Ferry. I'm sure most of you got in in time and had a great time. For the rest of the people stuck in line, it was not a pleasant experience.

This is the last time I attend a Bal en Blanc event. Unless there is a valid excuse why the lineup was so slow, I see no sense in ever attending a similar event.

As I was standing in line, I realized that the best parties of the past year were at Piknic, James Holden (7$ FUCKING DOLLARS), Tommie Sunshine (15$ FUCKING DOLLARS at SAT) and SASHA & DIGWEED (60$ DOLLARS) for a show of a lifetime.

I knew it coming and I will never make the same mistake again. Sorry for the harsh words, but that's just the way I feel. Feel free to gush about how amazing a party it was!!

I got a message from my girl earlier today as well, she was already in queue for 2,5 hours and still ages away

BeB is something you have to do once....after that its really not that big of a deal....its not like they bring in big new names....just the same recycled DJs that I can see for $20.00 on a saturday night.

Posted by gimmebeatz on Mar-24-2008 13:40:

ive never been..but the question i have to ask is "why the hell are u showing up at 2am when u paid $100 for a ticket for a party that started at 9pm?"

Posted by elFreak on Mar-24-2008 14:31:

who the fuck goes out at 9pm? thats for high school kids

I've been once in 2005 and that was it. I got pills dropped in my bottle, sore legs from waiting in line (both for getting in and for the washrooms) and ears ringing for days because some dumbshit thought louder was better (must have turned on the gain way too much). Worst experience ever, haven't done massive parties since. I can't believe I spent 100$ on Tiesto and Benassi. In fact, I clearly remember walking out of the trance room when Benassi came on, as he was the culprit for damaging my ears.

Bring back Aria. Please.

No it's the topic for sour idiots who don't know what a massive implies.

I'm sorry but if you're going to a big party that is most likely sold you, you don't get there around midnight, u get there around 10, do an hours maybe 2 of line-up and then you're in the for the rest of the night.

If you don't want to have pills poped in your water (which, proves how much you'Re a retard for giving your water bottle to someone) you keep it close and use it only for yourself and your friends that you know really well.

Of course the sound has to be loud it has to compensate for the 5-6-7-000 people inside which will completly change the sound.

c'est la vie, life goes on.

sorry for the sour grapes, but I was kinda pissed last night. Heard from someone else, he got in line at 1:30, got inside by 5:30!! wow!

You're right, to get in on time, you should get there EARLY (10pm)...but that means I'd fall asleep by 6am. No disrespect to the organizers; all I am wondering is why this year was so different from past years??

Oh, and how was the party?

1) Never gave my bottle to someone else. As soon as I opened the bottle of water behind my ex-girlfriend's back, the guy dropped it without my line of sight. Luckily, I saw him do it because he extended his arm behind her. I just brought the bottle up to a light and saw the fucking thing float down.

2) Loud as in distortion, moron. When you jack up more power than the system can handle, sound distorts and causes painful "screeching" noises. Either Benny or the inexperienced sound engineer on hand thought it would be a clever idea to do this.

Krinker, honestly, you're smarter than that. Get your shit together. I think it's from the shit you've been popping that results in your slowness on these boards.

As bertuzz, got in around 12:00, and wait in line for more than 2 hours...

got in ferry was already playing. Some old classic, some news track, but srly nothing impress me much. Armin destroy it, the first hour was so techy, love it. after some old beat. I remember GTR-Mistral, and some more armin classic. I was switching room almost all night, friend in both place. I catch the cheeze of guetta for a while...he fuc***g play
David Guetta Vs The Egg - Love Dont Let Me Go <----- Really funny

Omg why people are going crazy for a radio track?!...was priceless to hear that!

overall, music was 6/10
crown was nice 8/10
but had a real great time with my friend dancing all night, that's the most important at BeB. Nothing about the music, that for sure. Was my last years, they need to bring 2-3 awesome dj, as dubfire last years, to convice me to go there again.

i'm dead, going to bed

Unsatisfactory happening imo, good for something tho perhaps for noobs or for people who dont really care whats playing. What the fuck is Offer Nissm. If it sounds like the same 2 songs play over and over, with minor variations for 3 hours is not a good dj, but a fool. Surprised he's desired in Montreal. Not the best sound (been a while since i heard a massive room being played), mediocre decor.

Highlight of night. Looking in any direction and seeing some HOT french girls in lingerie. They all look the same after a few rounds. And lol and the meat heads. To funny of a night. Can't speak on the Trance side of things, dont knwo anything about it.

End result, a bunch of people, companies, whtvrs made good money, and there are X,XXX more crackheads about montreal today.

Wish I could have thrown something at Nissm while he was doing his ridiculous conducting the crowd routine.

My review

I arrived at 11h50. Massive line-up to get in! It was going as far as outside and I left my jacket in the car in the inside parking so it started awfully! After over 2h of waiting finally got inside! I got in at 2-2h15am so I was going into the house room to listen to Cedric Gervais just before Ferry. As we walk I listen to the Trance room and Im like for sure this is not IM I dont know why or at what time but Ferry set began earlier so I miss a little bit. Ferry was having fun and pushing a lot of epic Trance Track, I was jumping all over the place it was awesome. Then when Armin arrived I had hope for an Armin vs. Ferry Tag Team Set. But unfortunately it didnt happen. Armin came on, third track, a speaker blows up! The sound after that was really bad! His set was really techy. It was good, but I didnt enjoy it has much because I was already exhausted from Ferry set. In the last hour Armin played a lot of great tracks and classic and finish off his set with Motorcycle As the Rush Comes (AVB remix) and IIO Rapture (AVB remix) Then Menno, I really had high expectations for him and he delivered. He played an awesome set with a lot of classics tracks, but I could really dance anymore.
As for the dcor nothing really extravagant, the lighting was good and the sound, well what can you do when a speaker blows up?

Sorry for the typo, but Im heading to bed.
Dom K.

P.S. The ladies where has always incredible

If it wasn't for the women's barely there outfits i dont think i would ever go again,
i have never heard so much garbage in a big event in my life,
had to wait till 9 to hear Victor Calderone to compensate for the rest of the trash that irritated my ear drums.
i would have been extremely annoyed had i paid for this party.
More later, time to sleep

Dam u didnt get to see her hevay foot stomping routine, lol. Quite entertaining.

Not to sure about Calderone's set, a friend seemd to think he usually plays better.

Posted by ChemEnhanced on Mar-24-2008 18:35:

So far it doesn't seem like I missed anything but long lines and hot women wearing skimpy white outfits.

Posted by licks on Mar-24-2008 18:42:

Those are just a few views of thousands, surly lots had fun, you could tell by how intense people were dancing, both rooms.
