LA - Local underground house clubs?

Ok, I just got back from Tokyo and was partying at many underground house clubs where locals spin, and it got me to wondering:

Are there any underground(ish) places in LA for house? Maybe I have been missing something here just waiting for the few big DJs that I like to show up at the main venues?

Looking for places with a more intimate feel and local house DJs!

LA has no less then 3 or 4 undergrounds happening every weekend with local and visiting talent...these are a few of the crews that come to mind doing things:
Deeper Moods
Droid Behaivior
Hawt
Dynagroove
Blow Up LA
Sexymodr
Inspiration
Sacrade Grounds
etc....

If you define Underground by the artist booking policy rather than venue (as we are currently at the king King on hollywood boulevard), you can throw Compression on that list as well.

Modularz crew as well - although they push the more techno side of things.. (but hey, if you are going to throw Droid on that list, you might as well list Re_Invent by Modularz).

what clubs in tokyo did you hit??? i lived there for 2 years. i know alot of the clubs, and the dj's.
