What is the DEAL with TIESTO?

I'm just wondering, what is going on with DJ Tiesto, I haven't heard a really good track from him in a while. I am a fan of IN MY MEMORY, but seriously, most of his newer remixes are terrible. Moby - We Are All Made of Stars? TERRIBLE! Someone please tell me what I'm missing here, or if I'm missing nothing at all!

The Space Between?

Thats a rediculous remix..... The music is good... but throw a Dave Matthews song over it??? it just doesn't make sense...and it's horrible

hehe dont forget hungry

that was pretty dire...

Posted by Dave_Masters on May-11-2002 17:23:

i agree he has done some really SHITE remixes like

Hungary
Pulsar

But he has also done some good ones

Southern Sun
DMB -(which i think is good)

As for tracks:

Lethal Industry, i think this is a brilliant track, dont like the Svenson and gielen remix but the original is amazing.

You mean hungry, and not my country, don't ya?

And.. what's the deal with Tiesto?
Dude... you have to check these tracks, because I have a feeling that you haven't heard them:
BT - Dreaming [DJ Tiesto Remix]
DJ Tiesto - Theme From Norefjell
Delerium - Innocente [DJ Tiesto Remix]
DJ Tiesto - Flight 643 [Original Mix]
DJ Tiesto vs Kosheen - Hide U On Flight 643

etc... just mentioned some of his GOOD productions.

Oh, and I agree, the remix of that Moby track is pure shit. I dunno, it's totally fucked up. Kinda disappointed.

Oh, almost forgot to mention: Tiesto @ Dutch Dimension 02-02-02. Pretty good tunes were played there.

Posted by Apoptosis on May-11-2002 17:47:

Name 1 producer who has a perfect record, who doesn't have ANY shite productions... difficult ehh?

So don't go bitchin 'bout Tiesto's "failures", everbody has their moments

Posted by worldover2k1 on May-11-2002 23:10:

I agree that there are plenty of bad tracks out there, even for the best djs, but I just don't get Tiesto. It's like he's doing drugs or something and doesn't know how to remix anymore! He was one of my favorites for a long time, but I need to hear something good and new! I have plenty of his tracks, but as far as the last months are concerned (except for SPACE BETWEEN which I like) I haven't heard anything! Pulsar and Moby tracks suck!

Posted by Michael Russo on May-11-2002 23:20:

Relax, a couple of mediocre remixes isn't the end of the world... if this is what you worry about u guys have serious problems.

Posted by tc-fan on May-12-2002 01:27:

well i like the moby mix he did...sounds very diff...i respect a producer who tries something diff

well, i'm not the biggest tiesto fan, but the moby is absolutely great, i can't see why you don't like it, it has a great buildup, then the song just blows away further. the original moby, that sucks.

Posted by JM on May-12-2002 02:38:

well

nothing wrong with Tiesto, just with your taste in trance music.

many other ppl like his tunes old and new alike.

>JM<

Posted by wookieslut on May-12-2002 03:34:

dave mathews lyrics ruin that remix...its so cheesy with them..the moby remix sucks wookie nut sack, the sonique remix isnt anythign special(that song is so old and commercial, why did he remix it?) but his latest vinyl release...Dallas 4pm is fucking quality, its my favorite tiesto track to date.

never liked that song...

don't get pissy at Tiesto because he made a few mediocre mixes! (totally agree with person who said that)

People say the same about Ferry and Armin too, lay off!

Noone can make great mixes all the time! (except Hybrid..... )

Wurd!!!!!

Shame / Disagreement Like a good sig I once saw

All I can think of when I think trance is what I saw on someones' sig.

Trance is like cars...........Dont Buy American

I tend to feel the same way about the way most Americans critique trance musik as a whole. I am from the states (Chicago) and had these types of views earlier when I first landed in the Trance genre.
Americans on the most part (mainly the ones that listen to all radio tunes) are not upto par with their music. They are stuck in a certain hole. Example. Here in northern Illinois there is only one station that plays dance music. Those of you here know how much shite that 92 7&5 plays. I almost shed a tear when I heard Ferry Corstens Dance Valley 2001 on the air waves. It was a tear of laughter! It has only taken this long to get the great tune to hit the airwaves? They claimed it was the newest rage to hit US soil. I am sorry but I have been spinning this tune for quite some time now.... And most americans dont like the melodies and pauses that trance is so well known for. It has taken me a full 6 months to convert my friends into the trance genre outta the same old same old progressive/college scene. It pissed me off that Ferry's shite hit the main stream here. On with Tiesto.

I have fallen in love with the ecclectic styles that Tiesto has. From the Chill of the ISOS series to the wonderfully wild side of so many of his singles & remixes. 643/suburban train/Flesh/Never Look Back/Lethal Industry and the list could keep going. Of course he could have a few duds, but for someone that has been DJing as long as he has, it is a godsend that he can still keep the originality and style of his music w/o jumping into someone elses style. Now the Moby remix I dislike, and the DMB remix which I love........ Does that sound like anything you have heard before??

It all comes down to one thing. PP. Personal Preference. I just hate to see so many of my fellow Americans dogging Tiesto and so uch of the rest of the world loving it.

Posted by gOuRYeLLa~! on May-12-2002 05:34:

hmm tiesto is a good dj and producer, some people always make mistakes, noone is perfect and like the guy above me said, its all about personal preference...

i personally like tiesto he blew me away with magik journey, made me sigh with close to you and made my head bang to flight 643, dallas 4 pm and the ever known urban train

Posted by burns on May-12-2002 06:18:

I think every-one should just chill. Tiesto is experimenting man. Its not a big deal if he makes a tune that not many like, as long as he likes. I beleive tunes like Moby and DMB are a good way of placing vocals into as set with-out the cheesy-ness. I dont love those two songs but i accept them and open my music taste up to them, rather than complaining. By using this methos the tunes usually grow on my, I hated DMB put with pacience i appreciated it, Same goes for Moby.

The "Boy" who said Dallas 4pm Sucked, No-wonder you dislike Tiesto.
