Paul M - 1 Year In [techno]
LINK
Ok, so here goes. On the 1 year anniversary of moving to Holland, I threw this mix together completely unplanned (just happened to be recording at the time). It was inspired by the sounds from labels like ARMS, Audio Assault, Planet Rhythm and artists like OGI, Bas Mooy and the whole Arms / Audio Assualt gang. I hadn't ever heard these kinds of heavy off-beat tracks before. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't have lumped all the OGI tunes together at the start, but like I said, it was unplanned and I thought it all fit together pretty well.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy it - and since this is really my first proper posted mix, any constructive criticism is appreciated.
Play time is about 70 minutes

Re: Paul M - 1 Year In [techno]
Very cool, I haven't heard anything from Audio Assault label for about 4 years when at the time I started to get away from techno for a bit and more into psy at the time. Certainly one of the more interesting techno styles from those guys in terms of their percussion rhythms and composition, they add a lot to the genre.
(I also really liked your 'kitchen sink' mix a lot too!)
Thanks Lilith
How's things? Haven't seen you posting on here in a while.
ill give this a whirl....tell kate she sucks for never doing a demo...faking the funk imo
I actually started off spinning harder techno such as this and probably haven't listened to a hardtech set in at least 5 years. I gotta say, this was a pretty damn good mix. I actually listened to the whole thing, which is rare, as I find listening to hard techno lately about as monotoneous (sp?) as listening to the latest dark drum n bass ...
The mixing was excellent from what I could remember, track selection kept my attention for sure. I'd kill to hear some techno like this again, I haven't heard it played out since I lived in Detroit in 99 and prior.
My only suggestion, is that the eq's were off between a couple of transitions. Wasn't too over-riding on either end, and most people wouldn't notice at all really. Prolly just a DJ thing
Thanks for the mix.
^ Thanks for the feedback
Not sure what was going on between some of the mixes, now that you mention it.
As for the tunes, it's not your usual hard / heavy techno, that's for sure.
