Ottawa Trance scene???
hey guys
i was wondering if there is a trance scene in ottawa?
any specific clubs that play trance?
lol
sorry pretty funny....not disrespecting you, but Ottawa barely has a electronic scene as a whole, let alone a trance scene. Best bet is to talk to robbiej on this forum or check out XVI
here and there Heaven Night Club brings in some trance DJs (sander van doorn, armin van buuren, rank 1) but lately its been really scarce cause i think their understanding that there isnt any money being made in Ottawa for trance
Ottawa has some fans, but for a trance scene... no
Heaven Nightclub, Sunrise Afterhours, Monthly Elevation... Which has Mike Emvee Djing.. I never even heard him before...
Heaven plays a lot of GARBAGE electro house...
ottawa's full of 2005 electro cheese. good times! lets all go to heaven and listen to muscle cars!...what the...
It used to have an awesome rave scene about 8 years ago. One of the best parties I ever went too. So is the scene completely dead like it is here in Montreal?

| Originally posted by Techo Head Ha ha yah right. Toronto is way better than here. Even the comfort zone in TO - on a Sunday afternoon has more more people than circus or Stereo on a typical weekend. They may be sketech bags but at least they socialize unlike many (not all) people at the afterhours here. There is like 2 thousand people in the Guv complex every weekend in TO. I am sure Detriot has a better scene as well. |
I am just saying it as it is. I have years of experience partying in both cities.
I don't think the edm scene in MTL is all that great. Let's be honest there is not that much variety and it has really shrunk since the early 00's.
At least in Toronto it is a big scene - a lot of different venues. In Guv complex there is like 3 or 4 different rooms and thousands of people.
Here we have Stereo which is great - but it's only one small room. Albeit with an amazing sound system. The last time I went to Cirus there was about 50-60 people and I almost got ripped off by some sketchy dude..
Where else is there to go??
What I am I missing??
Are you talking about private parties or something?
There's around 2000 people ... sometimes less.. sometimes more... on an island, every sunday during summer with only EDM music..
Even I sometimes find it too electronic for my tastes
How many people showed up for Justice at metropolis ? Around 5000
How many people go to beachclub every sunday and its house music ? Around 800 to be fair
How many people showed up at SAT for Moby... with the worst snowstorm Montreal has seen this year... around 1000 in and out
How many people at Bal en Blanc ? 15000
Resolution ? 5500
Sensation / Cream ? 5000
S&D @ Pepsi forum ? Probably 3800
Opera on sunday nights with only house music ? between 1000 and 2000 depending on whos playing
Circus every weekend ? around 2000 for the weekend
Stereo probably 900 for both nights with only house music
Bal de pompiers private events ? over 1000 ... 5 or 6 times a year
I'm just naming the big spots + major events...
Want me to go on
I even feel like naming all the headliners who came to Montreal only last year... EDM wise
How many people in the greater Toronto ? Over 5 million
How many people in the greater Montreal ? 3.5 million
You need me to go on ? or youre realising theres nothing else to say other than Montreal is actually still a HUGE EDM city... its just the music thats changing
Thanks
Powww
Go back home Tdot
Are you promoting Circus though?
Stereo's got more people per weekend then that
I'm just dreaming of another after hours with serious hype...
Something like Aria... *sigh*... Anybody got numbers on the heads at the club in and out per weekend?
pwned

Perhaps Tiesto will be dropping by O-town sometime soon... ya never know!
Has Tiesto ever been to Ottawa..
I think the town is too small for a booking like that...

nope
Yeah, he's coming to Ottawa soon.
I can't see myself going. I stopped listening to him back in 2001.
I've heard some rumours about tiesto coming to O-town
I'm really looking forward to the announcement on that coming out. It should be soon.
im a little late in the game but here's an outsiders take on the mtl scene:
Just because we dont have toronto numbers doesnt mean whats going on here in montreal isnt extremely solid.
if anything i find thats where montreal excels, having great parties regardless of the numbers who show up.
There are a lot of different, very passionate people making events of all sorts from every style of music and other electronic media it gets pretty hard to pack a party sometime- but it never stops the people there from having a great night.
We also have these awesome roving gangs of afterpartiers who destroy the city every saturday and sunday morning on the scour for the best place to go next
if anything i find a lot of the people on this board to be very unfamiliar with what is actually going on in montreal!
we have some many killer djs and dope dope parties going on, its insane- this all going on far outside the realm of TA....
maybe not the biggest names in the world, or just locals, but packed spots with great vibes.
its just gotten to the point where people are getting deeper and deeper away from the club scene but still wanting to party that the venues are changing... luckily we still have guys like piknic to keep everyone sane!
Afterhours are going slow these times... Stereo I find is the only authentic afterhours comparable to what was on before
Geez, anybody remember Playground, Sona, and the later Aria?
Even that fucking spooky ass lounge Yoda's Den this guy brought me to when I just hit puberty hah. We stayed till 10 at which point buzzos we're downing on couches and it seemed like it was nowhere close to closing. A lounge... no dancing. Just serious music and vibes. Definitely the underground spot of its time, I even have my doubts as to believing whether it was even legal.
10 am that is.

eesh. Remember when Chus and Ceballos came here couple times when Heaven just opened? Seems so long ago, but if Tiesto's booked at Heaven it's a waste of money, in my opinion. Good for Tiesto fans though, VIP gets you so close to him.
