I just threw up in my mouth just a little bit.....

this is what will lead to the down fall of man.....

please watch this video and make your own unbiased mind up if this is what should be taught to our children.....

I am sickened personally....

Christians, Muslims and others that refuse to accept that there is not a Pie in the Sky that will give you an after life, he will not give you a bunch of virgins if you martyr your self...and no, he did not create the universe in 6days
somtimes I think that these kind of people are just as bad as the people that cut innocents' heads off while screaming Allah Akbar...

they are doing the same ........

destroying our species .....

please convince me other wise.

//I was raised in a strict christian home
///my father was a Calvinist Baptist Preacher
////So bring something new that I do not already know......

It never ceases to amaze me that the most advanced nation tolerates this kind of nonsense.

Those creationists are totally devoid of reason, which is antithetical to a reasoned god. They need to really read up on the bible; they would find that evolution and the bible DO NOT conflict. The Catholic Church has affirmed this, and if we pull a few verses out of the bible...

2 Peter 3:8
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

Now, these creationists are stating God created the universe and the earth with everything in it in 7 24 hour time frames. Well, let's read this first...

quote:

Genesis 1

14And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

16And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

18And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

That's right. The sun was not created until the FOURTH DAY. So if we go by the 24 hour sun based time frame, how long were the first 3 days!? I can tell you, THEY WEREN'T 24 HOURS!!

What pisses me off is that these guys put God inside a box; they put limits on God. They need to realize that evolution in and of itself glorifies God because it shows how a complex biosphere comes to be through the most empirical means possible! These Christians unfortunately are the "Geo-centrist Christians" of today. This camp which says evolution and God are two opposing "worldviews" are totally wrong.

How is "a god's day = 1000 odd years" ANY better than a day = 24hrs?

It's not a literal statement. This verse is explaining that our understanding of time, our measurements of it, our perception of time binds man, but does not bind God. For if God were limited to our time, God would not be God.

haha, says you. we can interpret the bible however we like, and the creationists believe that a biblical "god" day = 1000 years.

No they don't. They believe in a literal 24 hour period, 7 literal 24 hour days of creation.

1. God does not follow human time scales.
2. No one can state what time scale God follows. All one can say is it is eternity. David was reflecting on God when he said, "1000 days to us is like a day to God." That is not catagorically stating God follows a 1 earth day = 1 God day time scale.

My entire point is, Creationism puts God in a box. They are heretics.

You mean like how Father Christmas finds enough time to deliver presents to every kid on Earth in just one night?

Im sorry, but you are very misinformed. There are plenty of creationists (as well as some faiths such as mormonism or jehovah's witnesses) that believe that 1 day in the bible = 1000 human years. Which is why you frequently come across the number of 10,000 years old.

I just watched the whole thing...

T-Rexes were vegetarians..

Noah really found two of every creature on the planet and put them on a boat...

People lived to be 800-900 years old back in the day...

and this is really fucking stupid

and yet, you need to read, if you have not already, the story of Gilgamesh... and ancient Sumerian myth that is almost exactly like the story of creation and the flood that is taught in the Christian's bible. written a few 1000 years or so .... but whats a 1000 years when according the the bible, people lived 800-900 years..

Funny how they say that the T-Rex was a vegan..... I mean looking at the skull alone can tell you he was a meat eater......

more likely a scavenger rather than a hunter, but that is a whole diff topic

Posted by LazFX on Mar-28-2008 00:59:

and before the Islamic brother hood responds.....

THIS GOES FOR YOU as well!!!

cause Abram is your daddy just as well as the Hebrews.....

just saying.....

Maybe some do, but that's not what I'm talking about. Conventional creatonism assumes 1 genesis day to be a 24 hour period.

No where in the Bible is a fat man on reindeer flying around the world delivering presents to kids. And what about the countries where Christman isn't a holiday. Does Santa skip out on them?

there is not one... and you are right...

but you have to agree that what Jesus Taught and believed in is no where any where what Today's Christians believe...
I mean shit man, if today's preachers preached what Jesus taught then they would be like Obama's Preacher!! Remember, Jesus only got pissed off when he went to church and all of these big ass churches that pollute his teachings today, if they would preach the real gospel of Jesus, they would not be known as Mega Churches.

its easier for a camel to pass through an eye of a needle than a rich man to get to heaven.....

Surprisingly though, I was taught these things long before anyone mentioned Darwin's name to me... and I still see it as some kind of prank I didn't get. It's too absurd to be considered even in the realms of theology.

But, because I like to be fair, I've got to point out a mistake the journalists made: when you want to know for how long an X number of generations lived, you can't just multiply the number of generations by their life expectancy - rather, instead of multiplying by life expectancy, you should pick the average interval of time between the birth of parents and the birth of their offspring. Let's suppose it took them 200 hundred years for each generation to have kids - 7 generations would be just 1400.

Come on, people, generations don't come in discrete portions. If you want to defend science, at least get the math right!
