Have You Ever Seen Anything As Complex As This?

Legendary Gantz Graf... The music itself is pretty impressive, but in combination with the great video (made by Alex Rutterford, respect) this is really mindblowing experience. GG is probably Autechre's most experimental work to date, although I'll use this opportunity again to recommend their new album Quaristice, which is also highly abstract (in the range with GG), and IMO one of their greatest works.

So since we haven't had an abstract/experimental thread in a while, I think it's time for one now. Without flaming, with lot of good videos and recommendations. Shall we?

I absolutely love this kind of music. I think this (along with ambient) may actually be my favorite type of electronic music, because it's never chained to any notions of danceability or club-friendliness, leaving open a wide realm of pure inventive weirdness.

Yeah, Morton is a legend. He's like 70+ now and he's still fantastic (judging by that video).

For those who don't know, he's on of the fathers of electronic abstract music. Unfortunately I couldn't find the right video for it, but here's the speed up version of Silver Apples Of The Moon (first electronic work commissioned by a record company, in 1967):

i just don't get music like that... it's more of a fancy plugin showoff than something that's listenable (for more than 30 seconds at a time without going into a convulsion).

Totally. Once you can get past the initial abraisiveness of the sounds, you eventually discover some really interesting ideas coming through. [Though I will admit that it walks the fine line between being unnecessarily overly complex, and intensely experimental.]

Not the type of sound I'd wanna hear dancing in a club, but definately the type of music that makes me want to sit down, enjoy a smoke, put on some headphones and go on a journey.

Or maybe I'm just a freak.
