Python vs Alligator

An unusual clash between a 6-foot (1.8m) alligator and a 13-foot (3.9m) python has left two of the deadliest predators dead in Florida's swamps.

The Burmese python tried to swallow its fearsome rival whole but then exploded.

The remains of the two giant reptiles were found by astonished rangers in the Everglades National Park.

First of all: what in God's name is that picture supposed to even be of? That is probably one of the worst photoshop pictures I have ever seen. It looks like the bottom half of 3 alligators just colliding together.

Second of all: The python EXPLODES b/c he can't swallow the alligator? Dear God...I hope people didn't believe this. And if they did, they deserve to explode themselves.

the story is probably true cuz the source is bbc news.

i say probably though cuz i've learnt not to put all my trust in sources like cnn and bbc. I don't see why they would make this up though.

It is most likely not photoshopped nor layered. There are quite a few key artifacts that you would find in a faked picture that are completely missing. Second, there have been documented cases in the past of constrictors eating food far too large for their own good.

lol and I love Snopes. Nothing like using sketchy Internet references to prove/disprove other sketch Internet stories.

Actually, the story is true..and like Loca said..it's about 3yrs old or so.
Apparently there's an epidemic in Florida with all these 'pet' pythons, boas, anacondas, etc... that people either get rid off by letting go in the wild or have escaped. Thing is, in the Everglades & local swamps, they're not native to the area and as a result of having no natural predators there...they pretty much are terrorizing the local and native species of animals that are there. It had pretty much swallowed the alligator, but since they don't 'kill' the animal before swallowing...the alligator managed to somehow open the mid section of the python but still died of asphyxiation. Desidel can confirm that I have this weird obsession about animal vs animal topic . I believe there was a thread like this already and this was posted in it.

Being that Pythons, or all constrictors for that matter, fully asphyxiate their prey before even considering to eat them, and further, that they eat their pray head first rendering most claw/limb movement fruitless, this seems unlikely - something else definitely happened

edit: It looks like it did swallow it headfirst. Who knows why it went down the way it did...but it def. happened.
