Sander Kleinenberg Destroys Space...
OMG... SANDER F-ING KLEINENBERG...
Edgar rocked it... PVD kept it going... SANDER BLEW IT UP!!!!!
We went right up stairs as soon as we got to Space (the main room was stupid packed). And I wanted to be sure to not to miss Sander.
They had Edgar/Paul in the room above the main room and it was a good vibe. Not to packed mostly those more experienced party people. The terrace was closed until about 330.
Paul started at 2 and as usual did it right. Played a strong set and even played some live keyboards... Very cool. Some how my feet (which had been killing me) became invisible and numb... Went back inside for another 60 or so until Sander came on Paul was stomping it when I left so the transition to the beginning of Sanders set was magical.
He started at 4 on the terrace. By 530ish we were ready and he knew it and he started up the mountain... A very high mountain with amazing peaks and some gradual build ups that seemed to last forever (everyone was loving it). At one point he went it a sprint
off a insanely beautiful build up... It must have lasted 35 minutes or so. This is were it got nutty. After the crushing sprint that had everyone in a frenzy he BLEW THE FREAKKING TOP OFF IT and we nearly lost our minds... I have no clue about the name of the track but it was awesome. It was hear when the temperature on the dance floor seemed to be going past 110 degrees that they dropped a CO2(I think that's what they use) BLAST for about 90 seconds at the Peak. Talk about beautiful...
From there he backed it down and let us catch our breath... And when he went back to work on us he dropped a couple lyrical tracks that had everyone's jaws on the floor. "Rocket Man" was the highlight for me... I've never listen to the lyrics of the Elton John version before but Sander's version spoke to me the way SILENCE did several years ago at PVD...
Ah yeah it was that emotional.
Time check - 830ish I believe... I kinda lost track at this point. He had me trapped.
From there he continued with some other beautiful peaks mixed with soulful lyricals tracks.
We were about 25 feet from the DJ booth and I was dead center. At several points Sander and I made eye contact as I was (as you can imagine) quite animated. During one peak where I was going off we even laughed and pointed to me seeming to say "You hear me"... And I did.
I hope to get a track list and maybe even a download.
In the end we left at 11 feeling that if this is my last club night / morning ever that it was perfect.
I'd say that this ranks in the top 3 sets ever PVD (Silence) and Micro being the other 2. Today id say maybe even top slot... I'm not sure though. We'll see when I separate a bit from it.
What a special event.
Thank you Sander, Paul, Edgar and SPACE for an amazing event...

Rocket Man track
Thanks for the kudo's... I would love to know the mix of Rocket Man.
Can someone please post one or it... It was dark and dirty with the Elton lyrics dropped in over top.
Well, if he dropped anything that he played at Ultra, you probably heard
Christian Smith and John Selway - Total Departure
insane track.
He also dropped the soulwax remix of Hot Chip - Ready For The Floor
and also anyone have an ID on some tune with the lyrics: "Stop. Proceed. This is what ya need."
I wasn't there but there is a nice Hardkiss remix of Rocketman.
I had an after 4am ticket, got to the front of Space at 4:10 and asked the security where to go and pointed to the empty will-call table. Walked right in and right upstairs. The front of Space was a ghost town. Every other club on 11th had a line.
I heard Security started being tough on people going upstairs at 6:30 from the Main room, probably to try to get some people that paid out of the club so they could charge more people to get up to the terrace instead.
LP went into the terrace booth at about 5:30 and looked so stressed out about the turnout for the night. He shrugged at Sander and looked like he wanted to crawl into a corner and die. I am assuming that he did not make any money for the night after the bills were paid. "It was the least attended PVD/Sander night Space has had" is what I was told by an employee (Yes I know Wantickets said they were sold out, but I think that was BS to charge more at the door)
Not a bad set from Sander. He started off really good, then LP came in and bad-tripped him a little, but he shook it off. I have been to every terrace appearance for him @WMC, and I must say that morning as a whole was about a 5/10. Sander was really busy this conference and he showed everyone a good time at all the parties he did, but he looked really really tired that morning on the terrace. He played some great tracks and the video stuff is awesome. But a lot of his set dragged out, and I think it was lack of energy from the crowd before the sun came out. I really did not feel a strong vibe on the terrace this year at all. I just remember last year having a lot more energy to it.
I am happy for everyone who had fun, and that rocketman remix was really good, so was the new "Take me away" remix he played. Daft punk stuff was cool as well.
Sander staring at the ate-up making funny faces in lower left

there was one song he played that had what was like a 10 min build up; it didnt really go off once it did, but that would be one song i wouldnt mind hearing again. it was the song he kept using his hand and moving it up and up and up.

Party of the conference once again! Music was insane and the vibe is like no other. Song of the night for me was the Perculator remix that was fucking bonkers. Sounded like it was mashed with Teaser but not positive.

Definitely a party like no other during the conference, the nice thing about it this year was that it was a seamless entry onto the Terrace, we had tickets for "after 4am" and skipped the whole line outside simply bc we had tickets....
I loved how he played New Order- Blue Monday and Depeche Mode- I feel Loved (Danny Tenaglia mix) at the end, two classic songs, but his set between 8-10 was ridiculous! If you have his set from Ministry of Sound in March then you'll get a decent idea of his track selection, not sure what happened in the end, all I know is I saw a troop of security guards rush the dj booth to grab the poor sound man....at 11am it was all over, not even with a wave goodbye.
