Virus Ti Vs M-Audio Firewire As sound card
Halo guys,
Just wanna ask your opinion about this...
I had a virus Ti desktop & M-audio FW 4/10 soundcard, Logic 8 as my sequencer.
I read & compare the Specs already.. but i dont really understand the difference.
So would like to ask your opinion, is it better to use Ti as soundcard or FW 4/10?
And why is it so?
Thank you very much
whatever works best for you, my virus has about 3 x the amount of latency that my MOTU has... try 'em both and see what's best
I have a similar set up, Virus TI and FW 1814. I would definitely Use your FW 4/10... its firewire as opposed to usb (Virus TI). The only downfall is if you are using the VIRUS as your audio interface, you can use the Direct Monitor button where the Virus skips the whole sequencer and there is very low latency because it is going straight out. I use this when recording parts then take it off direct monitor for playback.
What I do to get around this while using my FW 1814 as the audio interface, is just run 1/4" from the Output 1 & 2 of the Virus into inputs 1&2 on the FW 1814. Then in the m-audio preferences you have to change something so the audio runs straight through from the inputs to the outputs. That way when you click Direct Monitor theres zero latency for recording, then unclick it for playback and for all the plugins on that track to obviously work.

Agreed with these guys. Let each of these do their assigned job. Virus for synth, MOTU as interface.
I use mu MOTU and not my TI for audio interface
This thread really helped me. Thanks all.
