The Guvernment Ranked #8 in DJ Mags Top 100 Clubs of 2008
This years installement of DJ Mags Top 50 Clubs has expanded to the Top 100. Guvernment moved up from last year to #8. Stereo in Montreal is sitting at #18. Circa is at #38 but im not sure if thats Torontos Circa or sum other Circa.
The top 10 look like this -
1.Fabric
2.Space
3.Amneisa
4.The End
5.Womb
6.Panorama Bar
7.Pacha
8.Guvernment
9.Warung
10.Watergate
From DJ Mag Blurb - If theres one city that loves trance, its Toronto, believes Armin van Buuren. And if theres one club that knows how to rock, its the Guvernment.
The laser illuminated synth sound might not be everyones bag but recommendations dont come too much weightier than from the worlds No.1 DJ. Consuming a labyrinth of eight futuristic rooms, with an ber-chic roof terrace offering panoramic vistas of downtown Toronto, Guvernment is an emporium of almost unparalleled girth, but its not just trance inhabiting its cavernous main arena Carl Cox, Sasha and Derrick Carter have all appeared.
I dont know any other club that pulls those amounts of people all year long, concludes Armin.

That list is almost as bad as their DJ list.
Wow, that's good for Guvernment even if it's bs or not. It makes Toronto and Canada more popular
In terms of Circa I haven't heard of any other Circa, and I voted for them too
I believe this is the first year that anyone could have voted for the Top Club poll.
All previous years was solely DJs who voted.
I believe Guv was ranked #18 last year..
CiRCA is #38. Here's what is says from DJ Mag:
38. Circa TORONTO, CANADA Capacity: 2800 New Entry
circatoronto.com
The brainchild of NYC club impresario Peter Gatien, Circa is a four-storey complex of 55,000 square feet of pure funk power. Within its labyrinthine confines, the club brings the worlds finest DJs from across the genre divide, with nights like Reconnected blending
house, breaks and drum & bass together across four rooms.
One of the worlds most vibrant cities has just become that much more so with Circa. This club is one to not just follow, but be
at, opines John Acquaviva.

I used to bitch about The Guv all the time, but now that I've had the opportunity this year to check out some of the other clubs around the world, I see how truly lucky Toronto is to have such a club.
I agree with Armin about how it's amazing how much crowd the place pulls year-round too.

The fact that NYC Pacha is 24th tells me that these people have no clue what they are talking about.....either that or the world is full of shitty ass clubs. Pacha NYC should be like 100th++++.

| Originally posted by Angx Totally agree. Dj mag is all bull shit, unless you have some big name or label you are placed low on their so called list. The Guv is a good venue for size, but their sound system sucks ass, and their choice of events is even worse. Who ever is in charge of booking the talent there needs to clue in as to what a real TRANCE dj is like. Stop recycling your crappy line up and start booking some new guys in, and some better events. If you have no clue as to what the new talent is here are some names you should look into. John O'Callaghan, John Askew (finally booked him a few months ago), Jon O'Bir, Tom Colontonio, Adam Sheridan, Kristina Sky, Thomas Bronzwaer, Stoneface and Terminal...the list goes on I am not here to do your job for you. |
