Moby is an absolute genius

A genius in the world of electronica who has revolutionzed the face of music through various degrees of magnitude. Moby helped make electronica what it is today.

agreed. one of the finest and most versatile artists out there!

He also helped bastardize it by making 2 albums full of commercial jingles.

Eh... I disagree. Hotel was very spotty, but I rather liked 18. And Play was simply masterful. I honestly think Moby is at his best when he drops rave mentality. His downtempo and ambient songs are very emotive, and even his earlier dabblings in rock were fairly impressive. The guitar work on Animal Rights is surprising.

eminem says he is a bald headed ****** and nobody listens to techno, i don't know who to believe

Moby is a good producer who happened to cheese out and get very popular. Nothing "revolutionary" there.

One of the first CDs to get me into that kind of music was a Mixmag vol. 3 Svenvath vs Moby set. I was sold.

To me he seems like the a more successful Paul Oakenfold, both have done quite a bit, yet both have gone for the more commercial side of things

moby used to be awesome and still sometimes is, but his personality seems so weird, he doesnt have a car, not drivers license, he doesnt eat meat and he lives in a small place in NYC eventho he has money. he is cyckling around in the city looking like an budhist, he must hate people or something. tho he has made some great tracks especialy early ones; check out everything is wrong remixed double album, its fucking awesome.

yours wasn't very elaborate either. how exactly did he cheese out? barring Hotel, pretty much everything he's done has been quality.

Some of his early stuff was pretty cheesy too. Compared to what he released recently, it's not that different

Then would you mind giving some expamples of how moby has innovated electronic music, other than producing mass-appeal pop music that sold in large numbers?

i agree he has produced mainstream pop music (a lot of his singles) but he has also produced great ambient works of which play and 18 mostly consist of. check out Play: B-sides for further proof of that. and i find his use of sampling quite innovative.
