PS3 or Xbox360??

Any opinions? I am currently waiting my 360 to be repaired. however, i was really tempted to buy a PS3. Are there actually any major differences??

price wise the PS3 is a lot more....cheapest i can find it at is $680!

whichever has the most games you wish to play.

ps3 of course. why buy a console that doesn't support bluray out of the box, and where you have to pay to play online?

pkc you lie.. i have warhawk and it is split screen + online multiplayer.. plenty of car games are also split

mind you the reason you would buy a ps3 over a 360 today is probably bluray.. you get a player and a ps3 in one, and the ps3 is up the top with the best of the bluray players too

in terms of console vs console for games theyre both on par and the 360 is even coming out on top with ports, but i bought a ps3 because sony just knows how to make a console.. theres so many more games that are going to be available on the PS3, opposed to the million first person shooters on the 360. That and the fact that the xbox brand just isn't that strong yet really.

By the end of this year the ps3 will be outselling the 360, and it was released nearly a year later. Speaks volumes doesn't it.

We have both.

Funnily enough the 360 is solely for games, the PS3 is solely for blu ray and the media capabilites.

So far the games on the 360 are heaps better than whats on PS3 but that may change in the future.

PS3 is a better package overall imo tho.

only going off what ive heard, burnout no longer has split screen tho which i thought was pretty shitty.

gt5 is 2 player and 16 player online
fifa 08 is 8 player on screen and online
Unreal tournament is multiplayer online
Cod4 is 2-4 (can't remember) on screen and online.

then there's army of two (2 player cooperative for the whole game) which is an awesome concept.

All online games play extremely well, which has suprised me.

360, solely because its mod'able.

Well ends up PS3 isn't the ultimate media centre after all. someone at work had one, got a denon AVR, and now the scaling on the ps3 looks like rubbish in comparison. + it's sony. ps3 now for sale.

and 360 has better games, and real racing games like forza. You can also buy a HD drive for $40-50 and get a crap load of $10 movies / $20 boxsets on HD, but you'll wanna hurry since the sales are tieing up now

I'd perfer the ps3 99% of the time. I am an un-fan of the 360. I even made a facebook group about how much I hate the 360. Here's exactly what's said in my group (it's slightly edited, but yeah):

"Fact 1: Microsoft are giving out $100 million US cheques to studios just to embrace their HD-DVD. N00bish, just like the 360 fanboys!

Fact 2: Only Paramount and Universal studios are supporting HD-DVD, whereas every single other studio are backing blu-ray!

Fact 3: Blu-ray movies have sold more than HD-DVD

Fact 4: Sony are working on a dual-layer blu-ray. That's about 100 Gigabytes of space on it!

Fact 5: Our PS3 exclusives are a LOT better than what's seen on 360. Heavenly Sword, Resistance: Fall of Man, Motorstorm, Uncharted, Warhawk, I believe Ratchet and Clank, Singstar and the upcoming MGS4: Guns of the Patriots and Resistance 2 (yes, it has actually been confirmed, and likely to be on the ps3 too, since it was so successful first time round) . All of these are PS3 exclusives and they are jolly good to the extreme!

Fact 6: This is a quote from the official Playstation magazine of Australia:

As you can see from the text given, this shows that they think Xbox can either get away with tweaking subtitles, or they're having laugh at something that's not funny and that people all around the world are going to buy. NAUGHTY Microsoft.

Fact 6: quite a few games you see on 360 originally came from Sony. Take for example, the GTA series. That was very good on Sony. They probably took it onto Xbox to increase sales, but hell, sales were already great at the time!

Fact 7: the PS2 was the second most successful console in 2007 (behind the Nintendo DS). Obviously most of that must have come from selling their PS2's to companies (Gamestop for instance buys and sells everything gaming). to get a PS3. Either that or God of War II got hell popular.

Fact 8: Unlike Xbox, Sony isn't trying to confuse studios to move to downloading loads of stuff. It gives people a hell of a lot more on their bill! Who's fault was that that a studio doesn't put half of what they wanted to put in? They either do it on purpose so they are caught in the 'download everything' trap or they're just not that good developers and don't bother putting everything in, but they chuck the leftovers onto the 360's downloading network.

Fact 8: It seems some 360 studios are running out of ways to make money from their games, so what do they do? yes! They put them on to another console. Yes, I have seen 'Lost Planet: Extreme condition', which is a port of the 360 version (and an old one at that), and it sucks! It looks very dated and shoddy. "We might be going bankrupt because no-one's buying Lost Planet! What do we do?" "I know. We can put it on another console and see if they might move to the 360". Nice idea, bad choice!!!!

I also heard recently that toshiba has quit making HD-DVD players, which makes blu-ray the 'bleeding obvious' winner of the format wars.

it's hardly news that bluray HAS won the war of high def formats. Some valid points you raise there.

HD-DVD might still be able to get on their feet again, but I think it has. Because Toshiba has given up on HD-DVD, the PS3 is now the cheapest blu-ray player o the market. Wow, that's hell good. Normally in Aussie it's about 600 bucks, but you got it cheaper. lol, good on ya. I can recommend some games to you some time if you want. I got a list here of all the hell good exclusives as well as games for 1-2 other consoles as well as the ps3.

Did you buy over there (in that case how was the holiday, where did you go) or was it an ebay job...what about warranty?

Sony has paid out WAYY more money to more companies than that. So your fact is bullshit.

That fact isn't a fact either, since actually no studios are supporting HD DVD now. Why? Refer to the note in fact 1.

If that does happen (which it wont), PS3 wouldn't read it.
Infact, all early adopters of bluray are screwed, as their players won't read newer discs. Sony's response is they took a risk being an early adopter. (Bluray isn't a finalised format yet.)

GTA series actually originally came from PC. Sony did have an exclusive deal, because they're anti-competitive. (Want more proof of anti-competitiveness? In Australia, retailers were given incentive to resell only bluray products, BUT they had to be exclusively bluray - weren't allowed to sell HD-DVD players/movies.

Admittedly I'm not sure about worldwide stats, but PS2 was out sold by Nintendo DS, Nintendo WII, XBOX 360 in 2007.

go learn and read up on sony. already mentioned their anti-competitive practices. Heard of sony rootkit? If not, in short, don't put a Sony Music CD in your pc, unless you want sony spy software installed unknowingly into the background of your pc. There's more.. but meh.
