Video editing

Can anyone here teach me a little about video editing. I've been watching a lot of youtube and I'm thinking of buying a video camera. I feel stupid for being behind in this technology field but I've never messed with it. What kind of programs do most people use to make those videos on youtube. Do you have to convert the videos into a different format to post them. Do I need a mac for making videos.

The most basic is the windows movie maker. it is as simple as dropping in files - adding titles and making pizazz.

There are many other more technical windows and mac based solutions... but one one could give you a 'quick tutorial' over the internet. They have modest learning curves and you need to either be shown how to do it and go from there or just pick it up and figure it out yourself.

I don't use WMM very much because it's unstable. And fuck it when it crashes sometimes while I'm going to click for example the "save movie file" button and then the sentence doesn't go away from my screen until I restart my computer

Or maybe I'm just too stupid and don't know how to make it go away It's still annoying as hell.

It is a good enough basic program though, for the most basic stuff that is.

usually if you logoff it will go away.

and as i said earlier in the thread, for amateurs, mac and pc included, Adobe Premiere + Adobe AfterEffects
