Tiesto: Yay or Nay

Hearing the news of Tiesto coming to the Ricoh Coliseum this summer, it got me wondering.....

I don't understand all the Tiesto hate on this site?

Why do so many people hate this guy? Is it because he has become uber-famous and people like to hate on his fame? Do DJs lose their "street-cred" once they make it huge, or are people hating on him for his music?

Some thought from both sides...

Like I said before.. Lawler over Tiesto any day.. but I can admit that I would go see him if it was a different day.. its just an experience

To be fair to Tiesto, he's reinvented himself since 06. Less trainwrecking. Live shows tracklists is still pretty shit though.

Although his radio show has been more broad in terms of genres. I'd never thought tiesto would play tech house. Better than boring ASOT or TATW junk.

I'd like to hear him bang out a set like the epic one Morty got to hear @ Trance Energy... but I hear he dissapoints every where else.. I heard him in Montreal last new years.. I didnt know who he was then .. but it was fun!

P.S. I'm not one of these bashers. I may not like the direction Tiesto has gone in, but it will never take away the amazing-ness that he used to produce/spin

I don't mind Tiesto...

I've seen him 4 times and neither of those times did he disappoint (his last set dec. 06 was decent, but definitely not one to remember).

It's like Guetta sometimes I find, you go to a Tiesto concert to hear Tiesto play his own productions and what not. Hearing him drop Lethal Industry, Traffic, Flight 643, Silence, etc. brings back lots of good memories for everyone!

Tiesto introduced me to Trance way back in the day (not personally ) for a CD I downloaded a long time ago (Tiesto - Summerbreeze) and was my bridge over towards the EDM world!

Anyway, I piss on Tiesticle for the 2 times he has taken my money and then provided me with a wonderful combination of basic f*ckery as far as mixing went, and then left early even though his bloody set was advertised to be a specific time length. (once bailing 45 min early, & another time an hour early) If you're going to pull shit like that, I shall vociferously castigate you with much vitriol.

So that is why I refer to him as the number 1 nut.

That said, I have enjoyed epic shows with him at the Docks in 2003 & 2005. But putting anyone in the Ricoh is just foolish. The fer-iggen place has all the acoustics of a tin can!(a ta ta ta).

and he's created a little dynasty run of his own, and people like to see that end...i bet if tiesto disappeared for like 3 years and announced a comeback tour with a few new tracks, this board would be full of YAY!

i can't hate on Tiesto. He is the trance DJ that I went to see two times in a row at the Docks when I thought trance was the best EDM sound around. The first show in December 2004 was amazing. Pure energy and emotion moving thru that room.

Since then. I don't listen to trance anymore. But my trance CD collection does consist of some Tiesto.

.....I will always have a place for Traffic, Adagio (one of the only two EDM songs my girl likes!!) and Forever Today.....

Then along came SVD.....
