I Think I'm Going To Europe... (Ibiza Experience Testimonials?)
Today I found out that my Information Systems Internship is starting on the 27th of May. My girlfriend has been in France all semester, and so going to Europe would be an awesome trip for a few reasons: 1. I get to see her. 2. I get to go to good clubs as I am 20 (I turn 21 in August). 3. I can sight see.
Unfortunately, I will only be able to stay in Europe for probably 9 days because of the time frame between final exams and when my internship starts.
So, I was really thinking of going to Ibiza for a few days because of the great electronic music following there. Does anyone have any other suggestions for places to go as far as music is concerned? London is obviously a great scene for music, but since she has already been there we may not go.
Basically, any music related ideas you have would be appreciated.
i'd personally recommend germany without a doubt
ion ludwig, miskate, someone else, butane, ectect. this april/may
plus it's a pretty awesome place
c0r please

If you're in Europe for 9 days...I'd recommend trying 3 cities MAX. If you're starting in Paris to meet your GF 3 days is just about perfect. It'll take 2 days in the city at least to see the major sites, and then maybe a 3rd day for a day trip to somewhere like Versailles. You can check out either the Rex Club or Les Bains Douches (both are consistent about getting good DJ's).
Next I'd go to London for another 3 days--the two hour high-speed train from Paris city center to London's city center is tough to beat in terms of convenience. Repeat the Paris process--2 days in the main city, and maybe a daytrip to the Bath, Oxford or Cambridge. Try to hit up Fabric or Ministry of Sound while in the city.
Finally, pick one last city, Dublin is OK but underwhelming after Paris and London. It has the huge advantage of being super cheap to get to, everyone speaking English and being incredibly friendly and funny (although there seems to be more American tourists than actual Irish at times) but club crowds that are a blast). Berlin is a different animal--the site seeing is more cerebral and not as awe-inspiring as other cities, but still can impress, and of course, clubs like Berghain/Panorama Bar and Watergate are incredible. Other easy (and cheap choices) would be Amsterdam and Barcelona, which are equally wonderful and have great club nights.
I know it's too far off now, but you can check out international club listings on Resident Advisor (http://www.residentadvisor.net/events.aspx) and use that to help you decide.
Of course, in Ibiza, you'd literally have the luxury (and you'll pay a ton for it) to be able to go out any night of the week during those days in late May/early June and see DJs. If you went the route of choosing 2-3 "real" cities to visit instead, you're going to be semi-limited to seeing things on Thursday--Sunday nights.
Good luck!

Don't come to dublin if it's music you're after.
We're getting better but we're still SOOOO far behind.
Having said that, my month of May is looking quite healthy.
2nd of May, Dirty South.
4th, Sven Vath.
9th, Boys Noize
16th, Morillo.
23rd, Paul Van Dyk
1st June Felix Da Housecat (just saw him on friday though so not sure i'll go again though he was good fun)
I'd go to germany if it's clubs you're after.
But my advice having just returned from 16 months of travelling (working holiday) is to plan carefully. Because you're on a time constraint you need to know what's happening when you get to your next location. If you don't know you could end up doing nothing. Obviously you can get the sight seeing in, and if that's what your after then this isn't that important.
But often when i was touring around australia,NZ,thailand,Cambodia.. the time of week that you'd arrive somewhere could influence the amount of fun you had in a certain place massively!
If you arrived on a friday, the place could be going off, compared to a tuesday or wednesday when everyone was working.
Try end up in a place that you know will have a night you want to go to or an even that might be going down.
9 days is a tease as well. You'll love it but i have a feeling you'll want to go back there sooner than later.
My advice. Do it (obviously) then when you get a chance, go on an inter railing holiday. You buy your train ticket which lets you travel all over europe at your own pace taking in everything! My sister did it and said she had the best time of her life.
Personally i'd do Berlin, Prague and maybe an italian city. (though i'm aware you're flying into paris)
Just my 2c.
Look out for lots of guys wearing Fake n Bake with sunglasses and hairy chests.

Ibiza can be very expensive simply to get into and continue drinking at clubs. Expect anywhere from 20-50 euro door prices, and 10-20 euros for each drink. It's incredibly easy to spend $200/night in Ibiza simply at the club (without counting dinner beforehand, hotel, etc).
Also, when traveling with a girlfriend, the cheapest sleeping option (hostels), is not really ideal, since you'd have to share a room and bathroom with 4-10 other people. So you'll probably have to spend 70-200 euro/night on a hotel with an included bathroom (in Europe, it's amazing that so many hotels still have bathrooms and showers in the hallway...)
Opening weekend in Ibiza is sometime in May, so by the time you'd arrive, it would definitely be in the swing of things. Good luck!

if you want to do music go to Ibiza. No European city can even get close.
What dates are you going to be in Europe, if you around on 24/25th May there is a big dance festival called Gatecrasher Summer Sound System just north of London. Line-up is pretty immense:
http://summersoundsystem.gatecrashe...eup/Default.htm
have you been to Europe before? So much to seee and do and so varied but 9 days isn't long!
To warn you, everything is going to seem very expensive due to the strong Euro and weak dollar.
there will be nothing going on in ibiza during may, things dont get started til june really
if youre after parties, i would DEFINITELY check out berlin - best party scene anywhere in europe other than ibiza... although some would argue berlin is even better in some aspects
i agree with other people too, definitey check out the greek isles and croatia if you can
