I wasn't particularly impressed by this. Basically, it had a strong set of opening tracks, and quickly meandered into dull territory before eventually recovering towards the home stretch (though it felt like too little, too late).
I'll post a link to a formal review once it's done.
... I thought this comp was outstanding. Really keeps the flow and sounds quite fresh. Really, really digging the vibe on this comp. There are a couple of 'dull' moments, but just when you're about to lose your interest a new track is mixed in. Bit of a mind f*ck if you ask me. Way, way better than T4 IMO.
Pretty good compilation, although it has its ups and downs. Like Paradox Lost says, it drops back a notch after a really good opening.

| Originally posted by Paradox Lost That's one aspect I will certainly credit this release with. Pole Folder did a great job of constructing an original mix comp consisting at least primarily of tracks that haven't been done to death elsewhere. Although I nevertheless didn't find this positive point to dramatically improve the overall result, I never once got the 'played out' impression while listening. |

) of that Max Demand track is just ace. Especially when he then suddenly shifts to the original version of To The Top, just when you thought you'd have to settle with only the acappella. That's some proper dj'ing! And the last part gives just a welcome moment of rest before building up to Fortune Cookie. That transition with Finding Paulette was pretty damn good as well. I really love a well executed harmonic transition, and Pole Folder pulled that one of perfectly!
If that's the case, I'm even more impressed with this effort! Mixing a compilation live on cdj's is pretty daring in this age dominated by Ableton and other digital alternatives.

Really digging this comp. I got the promo about a month ago but was only able to listen to it in the car...I'm listening to it with headphones now.

Picked this up blindly on Amazon (woscar's comments being a big deciding factor for me - I tend to enjoy the same stuff he likes), and I'm glad I did... a good mix of proggy elements, some slight glitch and tech house elements, a bit of vocals... really diverse assortment of sounds and layers. It doesn't keep the same vibe through the album but my only complaint is that it doesn't end on a more uplifting, "hands in the air" moment.
ILK - Twisted Pine (Ruby Weeks mix) is the highlight of the album for me.
