I have a degree in Global Studies from Wilfrid Laurier and now I'm working in film/tv post audio production. Not at all related, but I'm still happy with my educational choices. If nothing else, university can be a valuable time for self discovery.

I have a specialized honors in Communications Studies from York University. Now I'm working at Cancer Care Ontario as an analyst.

Boring as fuck but it pays the bills and allows my to buy nifty synths and stuff.

lol I wish I pursued my dream when I was a BA student...I'd be a lawyer by now. Instead I'm in banking, where all the professional dropouts go!

Yeah because it's probably the most randomly useless program universities offer lol

I mean you can't really do anything with Lib Arts as soon as you're done. You have to go and do another degree afterwards. Besides, I knew a few of those "hot chicks" at York who were taking that and the sole reason they gave me was "It's easy and we have 4 years to find a husband"

I graduated with a BA[Honours] in Criminology & Communication Studies (double major)...I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a lawyer or make movies. Turns out...I suck at making movies, and I really enjoy crim.

That was last year, this year I'm doing an accelerated Master's degree in Sociology with a specialization in Criminology...and realized that I hate research and never want to go get my PhD. I'll finish my thesis this summer, and right after I'll be starting law school in the JD/LLB program (joint degree between the U.S. and Canada).

Yep...apparently I love school.

Key words there are "if nothing else". Self-discovery is a given for most people during college/university; if you're going to invest significant time and money into a 4-year program then you might want to aim higher. Just my two cents, though.

And what precisely would a lifelong student know about the real world in order to say that it sucks?

I'm having a fantastic time in the real world. Much like school, what you get out of it is proportional to what you invest in it; the main difference is that the payout is also much more direct.

Ever heard of a little friend of mine called sarcasm? Apparently not.

I have no desire to be in the real world right now - specifically b/c I was searching for a career path I would actually enjoy for the rest of my life, rather than just settling. The path ended up being law...therefore more school it is.

I've been wanting to do that... it was with that aim that I went to York to study Psychology in a BA program.

Finished my four-year Honours degree and a TESOL Certificate there, but did not end up working in Psychology (a bit to my disappointment). Then was unemployed and having trouble finding a job (for about a year, but it seemed like a really long unbearable while then), alternating between a few temporary-placement agencies for short-term assignments at various companies and locations. Now, after a long while, I have finally found employment in a computer company, and I work in the warranty department, doing basically administrative stuff.
