Review: Joel Mull @FW

Arrived at FW at 12, just in time for Guest list. There was no line, no check. The place was empty and filling up slowly.

Im happy I got to see Jamie Kidd for the first time (the 30 minutes he was on..). All his promos are solid and so was his performance. His tunes were very groovy and it was hard not too bounce around

Then, Kidd played a bit with Kissner. The 2 together didn't work for me. The flow was weird. Soon enough, Metalogic comes on with Kissner, now the fun began!

I'm used to hearing sick minimal from metalogic (the guys plays so many layers, love it). This time was different. With Kissner, they played some great techno. They ended their set with banging tunes. I was hoping Mull would take it from there..........

Mull got on at around 2am. He had me dancing...but nothing impressive. I just couldn't get into his set. I mean the tunes weren't bad...just not good enough... Id listen to his set at home and chill instead...

Perhaps I was expecting too much a banging set like liebing, rohr and speedy J.... oh well

I bounced at 3:45 to make it home by 5 or so. Driving sucks lol

Kidd 8/10
Kissner/Metalogic 9/10
Mull 6/10

btw Platform, please release the liebing/rohr/speedy j sets already! i want em

You'd be hard pressed to hear Mull play a bangin' set (or productions) these days, those days are long gone. When I first saw him in NYC a few years ago, I figured that would be the case and it was, and I agree... solid tunes and great mixing, but not something I would normally want to hear out at a club late at night.
Next time I see him will be at Awakenings festival though, good daytime beats
