Supporing local/Canadian Music Artists

With all this debate about the mau6 and the bitching in the bangers of WMC towards people that dont like the tunes by local talent...


Heres a question to all those that think "They are local/canadian hence we should stand by them regardless"

I really want to know how many of you that feel that way support artists such as:
Avril Lavigne
Shania Twain
Sum 41
Billy Talent
Nelly Furtado
Brian Melo
Finger 11
Celine Dion

I support Finger 11 only because the lead singer has the same name as me.

I could care less where you are from...when it comes to music I support what I like.

I never said that I cheer for joe blow in the olympics because he was canadian...I don't even watch the olympics.....but there are those that do cheer for joe blow because he is canadian and that is what I was referring to in the other thread.

I support someo of those artists..as in..listen to..etc...some others..such as Celine..I'm not a huge fan of..BUT...when I hear about the achievements she has made on an international scale..I feel proud that she is Canadian and that we are represented on the international stage..

I don't think anything was said about "standing by them regardless" I think the argument is being taken out of context..

Supporting local artists supports the local scene. I can choose to support the local EDM scene to help it thrive, and choose not to support the local Pop Trash scene.

That said, if the local music's shit, there's no way to get around that.

well if that's the case..ya, you shouldn't have to like a product cuz it's homegrown..but nothing wrong with being proud of the fact that others like it..

I've been her fan long before I moved to Canada

those artists are so big it doesn't really even matter...many don't know avril is a real big bitch, hence the reason for the guy that used to live near me for leaving sum41...a guy i know used to be friend's with jasper, nelly's baby father/ex..he has his stories about her...if all be true I would not support them because of the people they are regardless if they are canadian or not

my co-worker who also is in a band and sometimes tours with Avril's husband's band
he told Avril me is a real sweetheart, down-to-earth and all, always comes and supports my co-workers' band

sum41 broke up?...they just played a show at Mohawk College in Hamilton...like less than 2 weeks ago.

I like finger 11, billy talent & nelly furtado. Celine and Shania are great artist, just not my cup of tea.
