sick fack, a$$hole, greedy bastard or just straight business?

cor I let you be the judge.

situation: I figured out a way to get pretty good deals in real estate. Basically i hit up the obituary looking for the elderly who passed away who outlived their spouse. This way theirs a home that needs to be taken care of. Most likely the house is left for the kids or to the lawyer. I send a letter to the home stating Ill buy their home quickly to relieve them of the burden of owning thta home and to contact me when they feel the time is right.

and then i lowball the fuck outta them!!!

morally wrong, am I an asshole , or is this just plain business

I ask you the cor, what are your thoughts

Could it work? Possibly. Would you be an asshole? Yes, but that's nothing that you're not used to.

Posted by iammesol on Apr-10-2008 23:15:

Smart, until you lowball them. Then you're just being a bastard.

Good idea, thats how I got my house for 40k under appraisal. I didn't search through the obituaries though, just happened to stumble upon a house that was originally listed at 135, then relisted at 110, then I offered 103, and they had to do 3k worth of cement work, they accepted the offer. Appraised for just over 140k.

Posted by Vivid Boy on Apr-10-2008 23:23:

their soul belongs to god, but their house belongs to ME! mUAHAH

Posted by jpisani on Apr-10-2008 23:26:

or better yet, why dont you just go and murder the family and throw their blood all over the place. no one would want to buy the house, so you can get it real cheap. then wait on it and resell later.

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Apr-10-2008 23:36:

You will fail.

Posted by chimera66 on Apr-10-2008 23:42:

people divorcing are much much more in a hurry to sell then when death is involved.

Befriend a lawler specialized in divorces.

Think about it

Taking advantage of people in the market is what capitalism is built upon. Sure, it might not be ethical, but since when is business ethical? I say if someone is willing to sell you their house below market value of their own free will, who are we to tell you its wrong to buy it?

"Plain buisness" is just another word for assholes doing morally wrong things for their own profit. You don't get anywhere being nice. At least you're conscious of what you're doing.

Posted by CleverName on Apr-11-2008 00:28:

Business is business. If you're in a position to buy real estate in this economy, fucking do it.

Posted by Dervish on Apr-11-2008 00:29:

I see nothing at all wrong with it. If they want to wait for a better price... fine if they don't... even better!

The really criminal thing about death is how much you can get ripped for inheritance tax (no choice with that one)!!!

Posted by ABTsportsline on Apr-11-2008 00:33:

eric, you're a douchebag

that said, if you don't do this, someone else probably will. You can lowball them but you aren't forcing them to accept the offer. therefore, the onus is on them. It's not as bad as it sounds, because they DO need to get rid of the house, and the quicker the better. They can mull your offer and if they don't want it, they don't have to take it.

not hardly the worst thing in the world
