digital distributors with country restrictions.

I never download pirate games, but im fucking tempted because some games arent available to buy in Australia from online distributors.

Asides from direct2drive.com, anyone know of any other legal distributing sites?

www.fileplanet.com

At least, I think. I haven't visited that site in a long time, and honestly you might need to subscribe to it in order to use it.

Edit - I'm an idiot, they are the same thing as D2D.

Another Edit - Do you have Steam?

Steam is growing ridiculously fast, about a year ago it only had about a 1/5 of what it has now. Now, every independent and big-name developer want a piece of the digital distribution pie. Microsoft has even predicted CD (and all hard copy storage items) to be obsolete in the next few years.

As for regional validation, ya got me on that one. I'm betting they'll have something about that on their website, so check it out.

so, almost finished DLing vampire: the masquerade - bloodlines, but this whole "having to load steam to play the game" pisses me off.

oooh, 97% done, almost time to start biting people.

You do know that with Steam you can start playing the game when it's like 5% downloaded right?

It's a cool feature of Steam that lets you play pretty much straight away

Great game this one. I might even consider finding it somewhere and play it again now

no, i didnt know that, but i needed to do some (unofficial) patching and hacking anyway.

how on earth can that work?

Bloodlines was a good game, but my god was it full of bugs. Tons of patches and a fast computer (when it first came out my friend and i were doing maths problem while the levels were loading...and since it loaded a level every five minutes we did more maths than actually played the game)

I would assume that it downloads the game packets in the correct order (I.E. start of the game to the end of the game).

So you could start playing immediately with what you've downloaded thus far, just got to make sure you don't play too fast, or you'll catch up to the download.

Something I'm not really interested in. I'm patient enough to wait until the game has completely downloaded before I start fraggin'.

yeah, that's why i installed an unofficial patch after it downloaded. the years have been kind though, map loading is ninja fast now.
