So far I've found some really inexpensive roundtrip bus rides as low as $30 plus taxes. Now I just need a list of all the good parties and EDM events for this summer in New York City. It's been quite a few years since I've been to the Big Apple. Really looking forward to my return.

Too bad they didn't have this amazing deal earlier or I would have definitely been at Webster Hall for Sasha and Digweed last Friday.

Anyway, what are the dates for Armin van Buuren's Tobacco Warehouse party and Paul van Dyk's annual event at Central Park?

WOW, $30 roundtrip bus rides to New York City and Toronto!!!

Just passing on the Msg..

There you go yankeeBaby

I was thinking of just going up for a weekend partying and coming back. But the closest date I can find is May 30th for bus service...

Posted by Ozmozis on Apr-11-2008 15:00:

Craigslist rideboard is really awesome too.

People go to Montreal often for the weekend from Toronto. They leave Friday night and come back Sunday and they only ask for like 30-40 bucks.

There are even some that go to New York also for like 50 bucks...

Noice. Now just gotta find out the event dates.

You are not really saving that much time between flying and bus if you take into account travel time to/from airport, going through customs, waiting to board plane, etc. But yes, it's time saved but not 20 hours!

I'm heading to NYC from Montreal this weekend, just bummed that Toronto's the only Canadian city on this megabus thing...

You are saving a ton of time...

At YTZ it takes 20 minutes to check in, pass through security and board the plane. Not to mention it is 5 minutes from Union station.

Posted by She_Fitz on Apr-15-2008 18:40:

Something I might look into..

I am thinking of giving it a try on the way to NYC and then flying home.

Being that I am a frequent traveller it could be a huge saving...

Activate - what dates are you using to get $230/total? The cheapest I have found after taxes is around $310.

yeah it really does save time. Its about an hour and 20 minute flight....with an hour check-in (fuck the two hour international shit). Plus a baggage claim wait of about 20-30 minutes. Cab to NYC is 30 minutes in moderate traffic or less.

The bus can take anywhere from 10-24 hours depending on how many stops/transfers.

The only difference is.....the Toronto airport is insanely expensive, and I tend to spend over $300 to fly to NYC in the summer. Flying outta b-lo is the best option: get a ride to b-lo and pay $69 one way to NYC on jet-blue.

Well, if you fly porter it does save time. That's the benefit of Porter.

The airport is downtown, and you don't have to be there 1.5 hours before the flight either!

This new route only stops at the Buffalo International Airport ($9/way) and NYC.

The average flight from YYZ to LGA is $300-$400.

I figure I will try it once and see how it goes..

There is your problem.

Search YTZ (Toronto Island) to EWR (Newark).

Mid-week from $125 each way.

you still have to wait for customs on the bus.

porter flys out of the toronto island airport... no lines for anything, and if you live downtown it's minutes to get there. You also get complimentry snack food and drinks on porter(alcohol included!)

the cab from Newark to a state that doesn't suck hard is $80-$100 each way though and tears a hole in the profit margin vs. YYZ to LGA or JFK

YTZ>YYZ

EWR

You're nuts.

I take the AirTrain fro EWR to Penn Station all the time. It takes less time than a taxi and only costs $15.

Yes.. that was before taxes. I have a bad habit of writing YYZ when I mean YTZ.

I was able to book a return trip for $2 on megabus. I figure with the fuel surcharges being added to flights it is at least worth a shot.

Both trips are overnight.. and only make one stop.

I will let you know how it goes.
