You'll more often find the more general "ghostwriter" as germans are not too fond of their own language.

Wusst ich noch gar nicht, ich kenn den Begriff nur im Zusammenhang mit Romanen...

it's just that ghostwriters do not only write speeches, they can also write complete books, which makes it not exactly the same.

dict.leo.org says: speechwriter = redenschreiber and i'd agree with that.

Der schreibt die auch nicht vor noch l�sst er sich die vorschreiben
