Sex is...wrestling

I was musing over the act of (rough and heady) sex one night and it came to me like a foregone conclusion. It's as though 2 people are wrestling, playing, dominating each other. 2 wild childs engaged in a passionate, stimulating sexual battle. For were we not quarrelsome as children? May sex perhaps, paradoxically, smack of (no pun intended) the fun we used to have as kids at the complete disposal of our impulses?

Just a thought...

For me its all about making babies.

Or maybe the impulsive child-play reflects this hard-wired sexual instinct?

That's basically the thought I propounded. What do you think?

Oh right, because from your original post it looked like the other way round (like the sex we have today is like a simulation/re-experiencing of child-play, and so i wrote that the opposite happens IMO).

Well, if one takes a Freudian stance, both child-play and sex are based on the erotic instinct which is "Eros"- the instinct for life (the opposite is "Thanatos" , the instinct of death) resulting in sexual "Libido".

Now, IMO Freud is bollocks, this kind of psychodynamic psychology is very old, but let me thing a bit about modern literature lol.

You only just thought of that?

You need more sex and/or female predator movies ala Basic Instinct and Disclosure.

No, I think I got a little confused. That is indeed what I meant - but certainly not only sex we have today - it's not like there wasn't a world before us.

I derived my thoughts from life, not movies. You needn't worry about my sexual life.

if we are going for the similarities between kids games and sex, i'd say it's all about the wheelbarrow for me...

yeah. steel chair to the head, 3 seconds on top of her, and finish it off with a mick foley type flaming barbed wire on a stick around the face. Sweet.

"Is sex like young children wrestling? An essay in TA".

Dr.Petran

It is true that games often mimic sexual intercourse. Some studies have shown that there is a sexual basis behind some games such as when children play the "doctor". It is actually interesting that many games reflect various biological, interpersonal and social processes, mostly those which seem to be evolutionary hard-wired e.g. sexual attraction, domination and territorial protection as well as the hierarchical organization of the society. As you said, play in young children is free of more elaborate social learning and hence tends to reflect the most basic of human processes. So, in a way, yes, some games tend to reflect more basic sexual processes.

Now, is adult-sex the re-experiencing of play? Well, as it was stated before, normal sexual attraction and intercourse as well as some specific games both seem to arise from basic sexual instincts. But i thing that it is wrong to assume that sex in a way derives, or it is caused, by mental processes which were active during child-play. Its just that since both of these processes derive from a unitary biological cause (sexual instincts in the brain), the brain "understands" the similarity and associates them. In the same way you did! It is normal, that, when the brain "associates" two things which share structural, functional or temporal characteristics, it tends to asume "causality", that one thing causes the other whereas this is not always the case (ofcourse it could be). Well, thats my opinion!
