Explorers (Uplifting Retouch)

Ok, it's finished now. I hope you guys like it because I've put a lot of effort in it, hehe. Feedback is always welcome

It's about 7:30 long.. 160kpbs

i like the tune, good job!

only thing is that the sound sometimes sounds a bit muffled... maybe the main lead is a bit too strong at points? i had my volume very low, and it came through quite loudly.

piano's are great, they're very dreamy and fit the track nicely. the vocals are ok, but it's almost impossible to hear what he is saying it's nice for the atmosphere though, although it can't be understood.

good job, this is a nice melodic tune
greetz,
LW

Thanks..

you're maybe right about the melody.. I'm gonna try to do something with it tomorrow

Posted by Serp on May-14-2002 01:15:

ya, i agree with LW the main melody is too loud and drowns out the track, just work on the mastering and then you have a perfect track!

Posted by mr. poopyhead on May-14-2002 01:17:

again, great track, =P

that vocal sample is SOOO cool... but a little overpowering at 3:38.... but it fits in really well at around the 6:20 mark...

hehe... i think you should rename it.... uplifting retouch? make a really cool name ________ mix.... i dunno.... something to do with explorers.... =P

nice work...

Awesome track! Love the melody!
Very well produced, the main synth sounds great although it's a bit loud as said above.
Only thing I find a little weird is that the clap is on the 1st and 3rd beat as opposed to the 2nd and 4th.

Great job, keep it up!

Thanks man

Yeah, I'm gonna do something about the main synth today.

About the claps.. hehe, I've always put the clap on 1. and 3. .... only my house tunes have clap on 2. and 4. . Hmm.. does it really matter?

Posted by attacc on May-14-2002 13:19:

Thanks for listening to my tune guys.. it's really awsome to have some feedback from real trance lovers

I'm fixing some of the stuff you guys pointed out right now.. the over pumping vocal .. the loudness of the melody..

it's weird sometimes.. you don't hear what's wrong until someone points it out..

Maybe I'll try to figure out a new name too.. I was kinda like the name Explorers.. and it is an uplifting retouch.. because the original Explorers song I made was more chill

Cheers!

Posted by Serp on May-14-2002 13:38:

well.. its not a bad thing .. its just that the 'clap' sound which can also be a snare in many other genres of music is pretty much a standard thing.. to hear it being used in a different timing can really throw you off the beat, its like trying to drive a car with the steering reversed!

that's my two cents.

Posted by attacc on May-14-2002 13:49:

ok.. hmm, maybe I should fix my clap then

Posted by attacc on May-14-2002 20:05:

Big Ears

Hey,

I made an improved version of my song.. I lowered the main melody a good deal and the result was much better. you guys were right.. so right.... I also removed the vocal at the spot which mr. poopyhead suggested and I think it was an improvement

I owe you guys a great deal!

If you're interested you can listen to the result here.. the file is 7 megabytes

THE FILE!!

[EDIT] your clap is still on 1 and 3 !, its really throwing me off lol , it sounds like there is something wrong with the tune.. i think u should fix it [/EDIT]

Love is in the air

Awesome tunage man! Could be mistaken for a pro production from say... Above & Beyond!

Nice drums and vocal samples....Also, the paino sound is amazing!!!

The melody is great too!!

I love it

8.2/10

Ps - Wut equipment u using????

thanx

Thanks for the feedback

I know I didn't fix the clap, because I forgot it.. hmm .. maybe if I record another version of the song I'll fix the clap. My future trance tracks will not have snare\clap on 1. and 3. anyway.. Weird nobody has noticed it before

Thanks D_G, it's really cool when somebody likes your work

I use both software and hardware. All the synth sounds and the standard 909\808 drum sounds are from my hardware. All synth sounds on Explorers except from the bass and the strings is from my Novation Nova. Bass and strings are from my Microwave xt

I also have a Novation Drumstation which I use for drums.. plus an Mc-303 which I don't use at the moment..

Everything is sequenced from Logic Audio and mastered through Sound Forge and T-racks. I also use the sampler in logic, EXS24 which is truly awsome. The piano you hear in the song is EXS24 and so is the weird percussion sounds

Cheers!

ShIt man u have one hell of a setup

Posted by attacc on May-15-2002 17:15:

nah man.. I consider it pretty basic

Using Reason you actually have a better and more advanced setup than what I use. I.e. I can't add compression to my synth sounds before mastering.. and my Micrwave xt doesn't have reverb.. I have to get it a seperate box for reverb. In Reason you can put as much effects on your sounds you want as long as you have a big bad computer

I know a lot of producers who dump their hardware in favour of Reason

Posted by NIGHTERROR on May-15-2002 19:18:

Well man These is a great track !!

what to say.....good build up .....good melody.........good quality .....good almost evrything ......

wow.. I've heard this before..that freaks me out...

Posted by attacc on May-15-2002 22:42:

Yeah, I posted an unfinished clip of it a couple of days ago

Posted by Serp on May-16-2002 00:46:

the difference between reason and hardware is reason sounds like a software synth

Posted by attacc on May-16-2002 05:09:

no man, Reason sounds just like a Virtual Analog. Actually the guy who made the ultra classic Clavia Nord Lead coded the synth in Reason.
