Red face [Hard-ish Trance] OrgaNik vs. Ambia - Reaper (Full 320)

Long time no see fellas...

I thought it was about time to throw subtlety to the corner and get back to basics. This was originally supposed to be my attempt at doing something psy-flavoured but as you can hear it failed quite miserably. Then it sat on my HD for months and finally I sent it to Joe to salvage whatever was possible out of it.

Thus, Reaper was born. We might not score much points in originality with this one but does it really matter?

OrgaNik vs. Ambia - Reaper [8:18, 320kbps, 19MB]

Have fun.

Love the percussion and the acid! And the overall mix is fantastic. Very pro sound. You're right, it's not super "original", but that's clearly not what you were going for on this track.

Nice use of bitcrushing and such, though, without going "over the top" with it.

Not much musical originality but fantastic production work here. This track really makes me want to work on my percussion.

Wow, amazing! *cough*

Yeah, hope you enjoy it guys.

Yeah, percussion has always kinda been my thing... though I thought I left them fairly simple this time

Get the f**k IN.

Nik you're way too talented to be doing this in your bedroom.

Yeah, that's why I do it in the living room

No, seriously. Superb work. Would love to play this out, and by out i mean in, in my living room.

Definitely professional sounding, the acid lines really cut sick! Repetitive, but it gets into a good groove right from the start so the repetitive thing works. Vocal sample gave me a chuckle too

I'll see your living room and raise you a play in my car . . .

this track is intense, but I like it.

you can definitely hear the psy elements in there, but it's not as 'mechanical' as actual psy. None of the less, great work guys

Posted by cybernetica on Apr-16-2008 17:35:

huge wow at percs and bass. the mix is great. Melody synth and acidline are clashing for space in the mix though, in teh end the melody is a little drowned in the mix. Maybe a little more LFO action on the acidline around minutes 3-4 would be fun.
But damn, what a nice banger. I think I just fell in love <3

Posted by Fundamental on Apr-16-2008 18:51:

Thanks for the enthusiastic responses, guys!

The track itself isn't really the most original, I've heard way better from Nik , but the production quality (especially the drums) is ace

I dunno... 7-8 years, perhaps.

Posted by music2dance2 on Apr-16-2008 21:12:

cool, you had many release's cos you should have loads as your production is decent

Posted by Mr.Mystery on Apr-16-2008 21:22:

Nah, it's just a hobby for me.

Posted by music2dance2 on Apr-16-2008 21:50:

fair does

Posted by isoterra on Apr-17-2008 17:41:

this track rocks my socks, totally my style. i love hard trance when it isn't full of brash cheesy synths & actually has some degree of atmosphere to it.. especially when it has a darker feel like this. no complaints here.. i've love to drop this if i still played out

btw, if you have any recommendations for other music along similar lines then i'm all ears, i could use more stuff like this

It's really irritating every time i hear you say that. Such a waste of talent. I know that one does what he wants to do and is comf.. yada yada. Such a waste of talent.

Posted by music2dance2 on Apr-17-2008 20:37:

yeah you have talent. Good job dude.

And that person certainly isn't me! Maybe we should have had a third person involved just for that.

Cool vocals.. driving percussions.

Bass doesnt sit very well though imo, and a lack of effects prevents this one from being a keeper for me.

another solid effort lads

good to see you're getting more into this production business joe
