AU.TA Psy-Trance Thread

Rather than Transphere's 64739293561 excellent threads a day, I thought we could keep it all confined to just the one so the many dedicated psy lovers on here know exactly where to go day to day and don't miss anything. Sticky worthy?

I'll kick it off.

I'm liking the tracklist of a new release from Australia by Adama Records very, very much. Spoken Word it's called.

Always love a good rolling bass line, but at the moment I'm finding a lot of tracks relying on it too much, with nothing substantial to back it up.

These tunes use that great bass line, but then throw Hallucinogen style trippy melodies over the top; a great melding of "traditional" psy and the more modern Israeli sound. Top stuff!

Also, the new track from Raja Ram & Benji Vaughan sounds great! Funny film clip too.

Zap! - Proton Pusher

Raja's getting pretty old.

f^%in cool, Beat Blog! About time someone in here used some common sense...

I am gonna be busy for a couple of days checkin on the track suggestions.

My favorite for the past two weeks: Protoculture - Refraction released tru Nano in 2003. #1 ripper track on this album - High Orbit

Just got Wingmakers 2 (released March 2008, Nano) in the mail late last week, - brilliantly trippy stuff. Track 3 & 5 my choice trax for the moment...

Still waiting for Holy Cities and the new Headroom release...

...the Psy Trance scene, known to be the smallest community in numbers with the least output within the EDM universe is the vehicle which carries on the legacy of psychedelic music today and through its progression is setting the platform for the future generation who choose this subgenre of trance as their favorite musical medium. It is a fact that this style of Trance is not only mesmerising the 'hippies' but anyone in any walk of life who desires music to be something unpredictable, mysterious, intelligent and primal alike. Something which has the potential to open doors we didn't know excist. It is honorable to belong and the vibes channeled through the music generally inspire a humble, peaceful and unselfish mentality - qualities which have been and will be key factors in the survival of the human species...(source unknown)

hmm i dont think its the smallest community within EDM... at least not in melbourne

Posted by Anomyst on Apr-16-2008 22:23:

PSY is massive in Australia, much bigger than armintrance!

but each to their own, Kindzadza, now this guy is a genius! i supported him up at the tribeadelic gathering NYE and i have never heard a live set of such magnitude than this, it was a frequency fight that left everyone fighting it totally speechless! he made a whole dancefloor explode when he lifted the pace from 145 - 180 - 100 - 130 - 145 trippiest stuff i have ever heard and mindblowing at the same time! cant wait to see him again! had to sit in my hammock for a couple of hours after trying to get back to earth!

On similar lines SHIFT is another unreal act and PHYX. both of which are in australia for Royal Doof in june. Their tunes alongside say Menog or something like Twisted System or Digital Number. Thats a crazy party right there!

Yeah, I thought this reads strange! Well, based on the releases for instance that are available through the digi download sites Psy Trance has definately the smallest number on offer.
Further, considering the ticket sales of the variants I must note that Psy Trance acts do not sell anywhere near the volume of other dance events, unlike South America.
On the side - did you know that Japan has by far the most sales in Psy Trance globally.

Nevertheless, it may well be the smallest component of the entire EDM scene but musically and philosophically it is a giant.

eh? nah its nothing to do with cool! i just think the best parties are the psy parties hands down anywhere in the world, and we have a great country to throw them in!! + you dont have that shit that surrounds all the other types of club music. the 'i have to be seen here in my new gucci's' and 'the orange people!' hehe

lol

awesome! doesnt matter if you do or if you don't thats the message i was trying to get across. nothing should matter. just the music and the friendly people! not about the image.

but hey its like arguing with a rock.
you can talk to it for hours but its still a rock.

His set at the Tribe Afterparty was even better, and that's saying something - amazing producer and DJ, hopefully someone brings him back soon. If you liked that kind of glitchy darkpsy sound try artists like Highko, Paranoize, Cosmo, Furious and Terranoise too - though Kindzadza is definatly one of a kind.
