HD Radio Dance Station in SD
Anyone have an HD radio and checked this channel out?
I was thinking of getting a new deck and if the dance station was worth listening to it would help me in my choice.
I have Sirius for Howard and Bubba the love sponge, satellite is the way of the future. HD is the FCC's weak attempt to compete with satellite radio.
so whats the station on HD?
isnt it supposed to be like a regular station but sounding "better"?

HD is just a new sales tool.
that being said Sirus, and XM are about to merge
They are playing a mix from fellow t.a. Kristina Sky on Area 33 right now!
Woo Hoo! Go K. Sky!
Not sure how well it works but... HD Radio is FREE. The way radio should be IMO! FM kinda sucks it's 2008 time for better radio technology. As for quality it should be pretty good because it's based on mpeg4 HE-AAC.
ETN.FM has a low bitrate aac channel that is probably very close: http://etn.fm/playlists/etn1-aac-low.m3u

ya its 103.7-2 but i have no way of checking it out w/o hd radio
i despise radio here in SD but if this station was worth it, i would consider gettin the hd radio
i don't think xm/serius is worth it
so anyone else have hd radio? (yes i realize it is a shit gimmic, i just want to know about this station)
Why do people think hd radio is a gimick? Maybe I'm totally missing something but I've been following the development of hd radio for at least 4 years now and I think hd radio will be a step in the right direction... If anything we should embrace this new technology that provides better sounding/quality audio and allows for a diverse market and healthy competition. Having 2 companies (soon to be 1) control the entire satellite radio market is not good for US the listeners!

double post, i are stupid
it's not really a gimmick per se, but it is expensive and rarely give you much extra
i am sure in the near future they will start coming standard on vehicles and stations will expand over time but for now it doesn't seem to offer much, but you don't pay a monthly fee so you can't expect too much
if it wasnt for the FCC pushing HD radio like CRAZY, it would be the Beta of radio
I dont think it will do well, satellite has more choices a bigger band no commercials and available EVERYWHERE.
Regular radio is going into crap, the stations aren't getting profits from sponsors and advertisers because no one is listening anymore. Everyone is getting satellite radio or just running there ipod's 24/7 with music podcasts etc.
The only radio stations that are thriving a lot are the Spanish stations (why do u think there are more and more). But us Mexicans are always late getting into things
I compare it a lot to TV, where everyone will have cable TV and only a handful will be using antenna's receiving the local TV signals. Well maybe not that far of an extent but you can see what i mean...

i used to listen to radio when i was in school in boulder and they had a dance(ish) station but i despise radio here. i even made more cds and wasn't as lazy as i am now where i can't even bring myself to change the music out on my ipod to listen to in the car
People like to make the argument that satellite radio subscribers are somehow a different group of people than regular radio listeners, I strongly disagree! People subscribe to satellite radio for 2 main reasons 1) the programming is better or 2) the quality and reception is better. thats it! They are ultimately the same people, they just can't find what they are looking for on FM so they pay for satellite radio service because (at least for now) satellite radio is struggling and so they are working hard to keep listeners happy.
Let's flash back for a moment to when cable tv was just getting started because I think that is a perfect example. Huge infrastructure expenses putting cables under every street and connecting every house. At that time everyone got their channels with a tv antenna. People couldn't imagine paying for cable. the cable companies targeted people in poor reception areas so those were the first subscribers, also at that time cable promoted their service as ad-free programming with premium channels loaded with movies, surely people would pay for better quality and no ads. People did, and now years later over the air television is dead, if you want to watch tv you have to subscribe to cable or satellite tv service both of which are loaded with dozens of ads per hour AND over 90% of the content is garbage! So bad infact that people now pay for another subscription to TiVO just to filter through the junk!
LOL!
Personally I have no attachment to HD Radio, I would support any improved FREE radio broadcast technology. I just think that we all should look at what we're getting ourselves into when we willingly agree to subscribe to dozens of services that over time offer less services and end up costing way more than they should!
What I would really like to see is better wireless internet coverage, then we can all listen to internet radio in the car and STFU! it's 2008 for crying out loud!
I should add though that even though satellite radio and FM compete for the same listeners it is incorrect to assume that means the satellite radio merger is good for us the listeners. No matter how you spin it one satellite radio company IS a monopoly, it will only result in higher subscription costs and/or less service.
