so i would be able to get a hold of one of these for about 20USD what do u guys think of these old things. Would it even work very well? I kinda jst want one to fuck around with.

for $20? Why not. it's direct drive, but the torque is not as good on a 1210, neither is the platter, however you can put a slipmat on it and cue as well as scratch. The pitch control is very short though so accurately beatmatching aint gonna be fun but you can't really go wrong for that cash.

Ha!!! That was my first turntable! And guess what? I still have it! I refuse to get rid of it. Lol I also had a Technics SL1600. I have no idea where it is though.
