$20 for The Martinez Brothers...

...was so fucking worth it. Probably lost 10 pounds from dancing last night. MY LEGS, god...

3 deck mixing all night, I couldn't even comprehend what the fuck was going on. Never knew they had a techno side too, played some really ruthless shit.

Bright future for these guys ahead...

god damn how on earth do they get gigs at their age. I'm younger then them, and I'm doign fine with where I am now of working at a radio station, but When I walk into a club or something in person to try to get a gig, they just laugh at me or something, or when I send in a demo, they like it and ask to see me in person but then just write me off or something.

Really good considering they know their history. They dropped a lot of classics in their set. Really diverse these two. 100% behind them.

not a fan?

Posted by elFreak on Apr-21-2008 11:22:

well i might be if they played techno, but all i have ever heard from them is cheesy house music. I seriously doubt they play tech unless the growing up gotti kids let them.

Posted by nefardec on Apr-21-2008 12:23:

they're ok

know how to play out for sure

Posted by elFreak on Apr-21-2008 13:23:

yeah to be fair ive never seen them live.

Posted by iammesol on Apr-21-2008 14:44:

Yup, they're 16 and 18. I've seen some footage of their sets and it's pretty sick. I REALLY want to see them live though.

Yeah I thought it was going to be a long night of preachin' house but I was in for a surprise.

Some tunes I remember...

Plastikman - Spastik (Dubfire Remix)
Ame - Rej (A Hundred Birds Remix)
Deadmau5 - Not Exactly
System 7 - Space Bird
Spiller - Groovejet
The Aztec Mystic - Knights Of Jaguar
Radio Slave - Bell Clap Dance
Dennis Ferrer - The World As I See It (P 2 Da J)
Ricky L - Born again (Pastaboys Main Mix)
Mory Kante - Yeke Yeke (Afroacid Edit)

And yes some of those aren't techno tunes, but it shows the diversity the set had. They went all over the place and they did it fucking well.

Posted by nefardec on Apr-21-2008 19:23:

those are all like beatport top sellers

i doubt they played the original knights of the jaguar, but i hope they did.

that's really not diversity, that's the same fucking thing everyone played last year

Coulda been the Jeff Mills Remix, idk, definately not the recent remake though.

Never said they played a killer set from my favorite labels (White and CDR), but it was different from what I expected. And those are what I could ID. Sorry if I only know beatport top 10 lists .

I'd recommend anyone to see them, fun and energetic show

music that is ground breaking for people who don't know any better.

No idea why you guys are pulling these statements out of your ass?

Posted by elFreak on Apr-22-2008 04:01:

its your personal taste and no one is disputing it, but when you see the tracks you just threw up there its nothing different or any more special than the 50000 other resident dj's who have been caning them for months. Its fun but bright futures are for innovators imo, not conformists . They are only dj's man...the fact that they have the Hanson angle makes them stand ahead.

mmm bop mmm mmm mmm bop (now with orange spray on tan.)

Hanson, lol.

I know where you guys are coming from. Those are "average" tracks played by just about everyone, but I wasn't claiming that they played an entire set out of ID awesomeness nor are the best DJ's I've ever heard.

I was just really surprised with their performance because they were playing stuff that was totally caught me off gaurd. Within the 3 hours they played the genre blending was brilliant. I've only known them as House DJs.

Their performance was pretty stellar though. Constant sampling and 3 deck mixing. But I guess if any of us had 4 hands to use it would be just as easy.

I wasn't aware that a DJs job was to drop the latest and greatest tunes ATM.

the fact that they have big names supporting them should say alot

Dennis Ferrer
Victor Calderone
Quentin Harris
Danny Krivit
Louie Vega
M.A.W.

...maybe you should see them live to get a better understanding of what they bring to the table.

HAHAHA thats not a factor son. My partying goes well beyond Jersey. Nice attempt to stereotype though

The Martiez Brothers are headliners at Pacha NYC, Cielo, the 718 Sessions, PS1. They are getting their WORLDWIDE bookings based on their talent and what they bring to the table
