Re: Re: Upcoming Tampa Shows

Yeah, I thought the same thing. I guess Santoro (Amphitheater) is basically doing shows @ Green Iguana from time to time...lights and sound should be good. I'll be there to check it out.

Wow, 3 garbage DJs, two of which we've had here in the last year.

Posted by Kevntampa on Apr-21-2008 04:16:

Really?? 3 garbage dj's??? Different strokes for different folks I guess, but I gotta believe all 3 of these shows will be a blast....I have an idea for you, sit home and rub one out by yourself at your computer on these evenings...I'm sure it would be a bit more fun for ya champ!

ok lets break this down :

Tommie Sunshine / Junkie XL - Both have a sick distinct sound and rock it with their productions every time they play. People will go to see these two.

Benny Benassi - Hate all you want but everyone has used a BB production one way or another. BB changed the sound of house and at EVERY party, you see flocks of hot south american women singing the same hooks to their songs. in my book, thats not bad at all

Ferry Corsten - His form of trance may not be your cup of tea but if he sucked so bad, i don't see why his radio show, Ultra appearances, cd sales, label work, track productions, and NAME attracts so many people.

The scene may be different up there than down here but this happens in miami regardless of all the sick talent we are exposed to weekly. Tampa, being a place that only gets a portion of what comes down to miami constantly..will have a great time with these dj's. I wish i lived up there to check out Tommie Sunshine and Junkie XL actually

There's actually four DJ's in that list. What does it matter that they were here in the last year??

I agree with Kevin and Eyekon in that all 3 of these shows will have a great vibe and be a good time...

I hope Tommie is on the bill for Orlando 5/24

Better than paying money to watch a couple guys fail @ beatmatching the BP Top 10.

Posted by epdarks on Apr-21-2008 06:17:

Alright, Benassi lays down, I'll give you that.

Ferry fell off when he got popular, how many times can you hear 'fire' live, really?

Junkie XL I won't even begin talking about. Popular garbage again.

Green Iguana plays top-40 and you can expect a top-40 crowd there. I'm guessing the system and setup is shit too, but I have not been to that location.

Kevin, where were you for Laurent Garnier, Lee Burridge, Three, Crazy Larry, Jimmy van M, etc? When real DJs come around the threads go dead. Then the fanboys flock to the Ferry threads. It's the same thing every time.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of truth to this statement. Marketing, hype, idolization & the overall accessibility of todays 'Electro-House', Brings even the Top40 kiddies out to dance to said world famous DJ's.

A person still needs to dig a little bit to realize there's a lot more out there than Guetta's remix of "Who's Your Daddy?". Sadly, most want things spoon fed to them, so they take what they are given.

Excellent point Chris.

I understand we all go through phases. I started listening to PvD and Tiesto, and honestly, it worked for a while. But it's not hard to deduce that these guys are there for the money, popularity, and to sell records.

At least get out there and try some new names. I guarantee you'll find a few things... cheaper nights overall, a better fan base, and most importantly, better music.

Have you seen him perform ever?

Posted by epdarks on Apr-21-2008 20:09:

Yeah I think I saw him at Ultra or Bang but I forget. Post up a decent set of his, I have yet to hear one.

Posted by llavoe on Apr-21-2008 20:54:

Junkie XL uses Live with 2 controllers, and his sets are not really around on the net. He has incredible stage performance and really goes off where-ever he performs.

He makes his own guitar, keyboard, and percussion sounds from scratch for all of his albums and EP's. If you go to see him with TS on the 23rd, you will not be disappointed.

have seen all 3 and all 3 have bored me to tears. but i dont' condone you though for announcing events, as this is "trance" addict so i'm sure some people wanted to know about these shows.

Posted by Kevntampa on Apr-21-2008 22:48:

Laurent Garnier (I was there), Lee Burridge (I was there), Sasha (I was there), Three (Whenever I can), Jimmy Van M (I was there).

Monkey Dancer 2

Gosh! Epdarks is such a hater...

Posted by llavoe on Apr-22-2008 00:57:

Bored? Boring? Boredom? These are not words you use to classify Ferry or Tom/Tommie. EDParks, if you saw JXL, you would remember.

A simple post to support Tampa's scene, which blows away anything going in Borlando, is attacked by people who do not like any of these DJ's styles. I cannot stand when people who do not even plan to go jump in on threads with negativity on the event. I will take any three of these Dj's in club in Tampa over any Minimal-Tech DJ you guys can think of. 130 BPM+ and hot chicks > 123 BPM loopy-minimal sausage festival. Jimmy Van M is one of the most boring DJ's in the world. His Balance sucked, and he will never get past the classification of an "Opening DJ" ever in his career.

Benny, Junkie XL, and Tommie Sunshine are not trance DJ's. They've been around forever and all three have a unique style you hear in their music. All of them throw down some sick tunes that anybody on this thread will like.

If you go out to hate, hate is what you will do. I really could care less what any of you think, but if you do not know anything, don't make stuff up.

Next time, whoever wants to talk about events like this, I would suggest doing it in the events thread. You will eliminate a lot of spammers this way...

Then please, tell me, why would you bother seeing Ferry Corsten, the king of pop EDM?

We just saw Benassi in the last 6 months. He threw down, but again, lets get some variety here.

Ferry we've seen more than any other DJ. From Amp, to Floyds, now Green Iguana.

Green Iguana isn't even a venue. It's a bar. A shitty one at that. Up on Veterans expy... why the fuck would I want to drive up there?

Still waiting on a JXL set that is half way decent.

I try to support the scene in Tampa as much as the next guy, in fact I've seen shows every nearly weekend this year. No that doesn't make me cooler than anyone else, but you guys are really satisfied with Benassi and Corsten beeing booked again?

Posted by Kevntampa on Apr-22-2008 02:53:

Please don't come to any of these events, jabrone. Actually do, I have a feeling we will all have a greater chance of getting pussy with you there.

Nice one, Kevin, you e-ball hard as fuck.

Why don't you go back to arguing how Ferry Corsten is a top rate DJ.

And you show what a worthless fuck you are. Question for you though, how are you going to get pussy, when you're too busy sucking Ferry Corsten's dick?

I also question your relevance to any music related topic, when the first thing you can muster up is: "How much pussy am I going to get?".

Don't waste your $ @ any of these shows, just make the extra trip to hear better beats in Orlando, Ft. L, or MIA unless your absolutely randomly there
