I wanna know cuz my Turntables has Technics "Headshells", and above that says ''Pickering'' (I guess is the label of Needle or Cartride), the thing is that I wanna have good Needles to treat good my records, but i dont know what I gotta Buy: cartride, Needle??.. Bouth??.. Can some1 explain me what exactlly they are??.. and... is this ''Technics headshell'' and ''Pickerig Needle'' Crap???.. Im worry about My Records.. and im new in Djing Scene.. so.. Please Help Me... Thanks in Advance... and sorry about my Broken English.
As far as my knowledge takes me, all you need to know is that
1. the headshell is that black plastic thing you fix onto your tonearm to protect your carts
2. carts are that small tiny piece of audio equipment you mount onto the headshell, and
3. needles appear just below the cart and it's barely noticeable unless you really try and spot it.
I think a stylus is just another name for a cart, but I could be wrong.
I don't really give that much attention to labelling and names.
Correct me if I'm wrong, someone.
the stylus is the needle.
Thanks Guys.. now I Understand

That's what I ment. Thanks for being specific though. I didn't think you could take the needle out of the plastic part, so it's the same thing to me
Ohhhh.. it's that little bouncy bit, huh.
Now I know.
OK Guys.. Thanks... No I know what they are... so... well... I Have just the Technics Headshell, then What good Cartride i can buy to put it in that headshell??, for treat good my records, good sound quality and dont damage the records,.
thx
there are two types of cartridges: those which can be mounted directly on the tonearm (like Ortofon Concordes or Stanton Trackmasters) - those do not need a headshell. And there are (like Stanton 500 AL II) those, which do. Headshell is used to mount those types of cartridges: first you mount headshell on the tonearm, then cartridge - on the headshell.
the difference between stylus and needle was already explained.

just buy the Stanton 500 AL II, you don't need better actually (you are a starter, isn't it), these one are really good for a cheap price. You could buy some better, but why? they are just more expensive and you don't need the extra groove some needles have or things like that
i would suggest u save up some money and buy the Orfoton Nightclubs E
they are amazing

Ok... I have found these Ortofon Pro OM nightclub they cost 79 Dollars and DO need the Headshell, there is Ortofon Pro Concorde nightclub and it cost 130 Dollars and DO NOt need the headshell.. so.. are they the same quality just that one need Headshell and the other Doesnt??.. i could buy the Ortofon Pro OM nightclub for 79!! , but I cant buy the Ortofon Pro Concorde nightclub for 130
... so.... are there very difference between thems???
Thanks.
I think those will that doesn't need a headshell are known as integrated headshell carts. But to hell with all the labelling and dumb-ass names.
