Any new quality emotional EDM out there?

Hello!

I constantly browse trough new EDM releases in all categories and cant seem to find the quality electronic music with deepness, emotions and harmonies.

My last discovery was Burial which stood out from the rest of the EDM.

Most of the new EDM music which is getting released seems to lack of depth and harmonic parts. Just random sounds and melodies played without any feelings.

If anyone could enlighten me and recommend me of any new deep and harmonic EDM i would be very very thankhful!

In the meantime im getting back to listen to some more Burial

You've covered Trentemoller, Minilogue, and Extrawelt already? How about : Antix, Vibrasphere/Hyzer, Solar Fields/Aes Dana/HUVA Network, Snake Sedrick, and (if you're feeling adventurous) the new Bigwigs.

I can't find Torch on Youtube but here's Extrawelt - Soopertrack, in case ya missed it:

And here's a track from Earthshine, the trance album by Solar Fields (who usually writes ambient):

Lastly, some Bigwigs... a strange video for Pars Pro Toto, from their latest album:

agreed!

Focusing on the past year, some "emotional" albums that I have enjoyed:

Asura - Life Squared
Beetseekers - Out Of The Blue Moon
Planisphere - Solarism
Solar Fields - EarthShine
Vibrasphere - Exploring The Tributaries
Moshic - Hiloola
Apparat - Walls
Jooris Voorn - From A Deep Place
Shlomi Aber - State Of No One
The Field - From Here We Go Sublime
Underworld - Oblivion With Bells
Hol Baumann - Human

Every release that I have heard on Ultimae has been quite deep and quite nice, would definitely recommend checking them out.

Solar Fields and Joris Voorn are cool. Is Solar Fields - Earthshine "neo goa" or something? The albums before Earthshine are quite a different style, more ambient/experimental. Or are those a different artist with the same name?

What genre are they now?

Posted by basilisk on Apr-25-2008 05:59:

Trance.

I don't think it needs to be any more complicated than that.

If you like Earthshine don't miss 12 Moons - Solid State. Or just about anything by Human Blue for that matter.

Well they do have kind of minimalistic beats, but are faster than the traditional micro trance, and the synths kind of sound like old-skool trance. I guess a substyle of neo trance?

I don't think so. We don't need to muddle this one up with lots of terminology... it's trance, pure and simple. "Morning" trance also works.

What is with "micro trance" and "neo trance" anyway?
