Synapses - Wayward (Magdelayna pres. Nebraska remix) [FULL 320K]

Hi guys, this is a remix i did in 2007,i thought it was about time i put it up for a free download - it shows my deeper, spacier, proggier side - under my 'Nebraska' alias - quite a bit different from my uplifting,melody-led stuff. It suits being an opening or warm-up track in a deep, proggy set i think..

The Original was a very chilled, downtempo track done by my mate who is a producer whos just started out really,so i offered to remix one of his track for fun...

Have a listen and any comments/thoughts are appreciated.

I see the sound you are going for, but for me, it is sounding very dry.

Reverb maybe needed aswell as some extra pads just to bring it out more.

Other than that i love it, very cold harbor. Just needs that extra bit at the mastering.

Cheers mate, yeah its quite a new style for me to try, so the EQing, mastering is in experimental stages really....want to progress this sound in the future maybe though

This is nice man, lovely warm chords and I really like the kick pattern once it gets into it. I think it would benefit from some extra percs though (without losing the chilled out feel) and I agree that a bit more reverb would fuzz it up a bit more and really bring it out more like a coldharbour style tune. Nice work

Novastorm : cheers for the comments, yeah the sound im working on needs a lot more work with reverb etc. - this was the first project i created using the change of style...i did progress this sound with my 'Bright Morningstar' remix,if you recall that..

it did gave me a "floating" feeling if that was your intention... anyway, the synth could use more work... they sound a bit simple imo... some of the stuff i really liked like the breaks loop on top of the main beat... but some synths i didnt like i thought they was a bit "thin"... anyway, keep it up!

On the fly :

Kick - german style
offbeat bass? - very experimental
Nice pad
Absolutely freaky long trance notes - those are very deep.
Nice middle part - real trance.
last part is great for me, because now my ears are satisfied with your little experiments.

8/10 - great idea.

Take a look :

Sorry I recognised a vengeance sample, its that sweep thats similar to the one from Angel Falls at 2:22 0 Marks

Seriously though, its really well produced, melody's a bit lacking but the mix is spot on and the synths are very well engineered. when the kick comes back in at 3:30 or so, its just gorgeous.

The whole thing's nice and restrained, which would make it good for warming up a floor, but not sure its a real anthem if you know what I mean. I think its just because the melody's a little undefined.

Lovely chilled track, but it maybe needs a stronger melody to really give it huge impact.

pretty nice track you have here - i love the chords and the feeling to it

the bassline does seem a bit experimental, maybe it is still a WIP - I would personally enjoy a more prominent / strong bassline. With a stronger bassline it would be easy to envision mixing this track into the earlier part of a prog set, but with the bassline as is, it would sound out of place compared to similar sounding tunes that are out these days

i am interested to hear what you come up with next. keep up the good work!
