Lucid Dreaming

Can anyone do this? Im workin on it nowadays.. just a cool thing to be able to do IMO..

For those who dont know what it is------->

Lucid dreaming is when you are fully aware you are dreaming but remain in a dream state of sleep (REM). Perks: Limitless, inconsequential environment. When you get "good" at this and can really grasp what is going on around you without waking, you can actually control the flow of your dreams and basically do whatever you please becasuse it isn't reality.

I dunno, just curious if anyone on here has wierd interests like me...

cheers,
marc

so.. like living in your own mushroom trip?

yeah, i've heard about it, though i know nothing about it. how can you practice?

Posted by SmellsExcellent on May-14-2002 21:27:

hey harley, hows it goin??? havent talked to ya in a while!

anyways.. i started by just writing down every one of my dreams thst I remember when I wake up, even if its in the middle of the night. the more you do that (and include small details too, like colors and animals and whatnot) the more you can recognize the patterns of your dreams and what you tend to see in them. also, things like books and digital clocks (the words/time) usually change when your read them.. lights cant be turned on/off... its just little things that you need to be able to recognize unconsciously.

for a lot of info, go here: link

cheers,
marc

that sounds pretty cool
but because your mind is so active would you still be in a full state of rest? (the whole point of sleeping)

any stories on lucid dreams are welcome

Yes....
I've done it soo many times before.

It's really great, it's like you can control your dream, and choose what happens next...

I always wondered what it was called.

Posted by Tranex02 on May-14-2002 23:50:

I did not read the whole article , but i just picked up this line:

"The trick here in a dream is to just see how your mind works, and how beautiful or horrible you can make things"

I think it's really amazing what your mind can create...
it's capability to weave together different ideas to create the dream is really awesome...

Posted by apri_peel on May-15-2002 00:04:

the whole trick to lucid dreaming is to be able to pick up on little things, like marc said. also, in your dreams things happen that would normally not happen. like talking animals and spiders that look like squid (those were in my dream a couple of nights ago), and thats basically the reason why you write your dreams down to see those things

im reading a book on lucid dreaming right now, its kinda cool, but a bit boring to read about it

i had a short lucid dream about a month ago. i was sitting on my bed talking to my bf on the phone and then he said to hold on for a minute and then bugs and spiders started to crawl on my bed. when i tried to scream, i couldnt, i could only to in whispers and when i whispered my bf's name into the phone i could only hear someone breathing. i was really scared and then i realized it was a dream so i decided to wake up b/c i was freaked out and didnt know what else to do

shit man! i'd throw so much shit at my dad if he woke me up out of that.

I've been in one of those kind of dreams for a bit before, I knew I was dreaming, but I didn't have real control. Guess I'm not a master....

u gave away the ending...

what a trippy dream tho

damn ...

I've kinda lost the ability to do this but I'm still somewhat able to do it.

This is what will happen to me: I'll be in a dream (usually a nightmare) and suddenly realize that I'm dreaming. Once I realize that I'm dreaming I can control the dream. Bad thing is that I usually think dreams are reality and thats why my nightmares always scare the shit outta me. So I'll usually turn around the nightmare and go into a better dream. It really sux though when yer in a good dream and you get woken up but usually my last dream before I wake up is the only one I remember.

Dreaming is so cool though...just the whole concept and how we don't know much about it. I guess if you look into your dreams you can find out a lot about yourself because they take place in your sub-conscious. Real trippy if you think about it.

well... your brain activity during sleep is supposed to be just enough to simulate stuff in a lucid dream.

As for me.. I have had a lucid dream... and i know how to inflict them on someone too!! seriously! .

I've had several...the best of which was when i dreamt I was skydiving at night and fell into a pool in the middle of a party where all my worst ennemies were and i killed them all with my bare hands and across the street was a party with all my friends and my favourite musical artists...i think i went overkill on the controlling part of lucid dreaming...i woke up when i got locked in a closet.

If anyone wants to know how to induce a "lucid" dream on someone... PM me and i'll enlighten you, it's just that i don;'t wanna type it out now...tired.

i cant even dream straight
how the hell are you supposed to control or know when you're dreaming???

Posted by apri_peel on May-15-2002 05:37:

someone asked about brain being very active during lucid dreaming and your body not being able to rest
the answer is simple, yet cannot be explained. basically, whenever a person dreams, its brain acts as if the person was awake. the body, however, is in some sort of parallisis (sp??). that is actually the reason why when we suddenly wake up we cant really move very well. not being able to move your body is simply b/c you dont really want to sleep and move your hands and feet (your brain thinks you do tho)
research has showed that even tho a person can have a very vivid dream, that person's body is well rested. why? they dont really know

I've been lucid dreaming now for about a year. Its pretty cool if u ever get the chance to lucid dream. Most of the time its hard to even realise that your dreaming but when u do it can be pretty fun. I've read a couple of books on lucid dreaming and its pretty interesting.

Posted by Spad on May-15-2002 12:14:

This happened to me once when I was really young. I just remember suddenly realising I was dreaming and deciding to fly over the school fence. When I woke up I read about it but never managed to train myself to do it

Any tips would be wicked

REM sleep is not restorative anyway. it is one of the problems that you have if you smoke weed and take pills is that these drugs increase your REM sleep and despite the increased quantity of sleep you get for example when stoned the quality is so poor that is why you wake up feeling exhausted!

yeah lucidity is awesome. love my imaginations.

Posted by Sand Leaper on May-15-2002 16:08:

Be careful!By trying to pick up details in every single one of your dreams, you might destroy your sleep pattern in the end.Not pretty

additionally, your mind dreams to "tie up" loses ends in your imagination. This is why dreams are really random and odd at times. It rests by thinking more.. what a huge irony.

you'd be amazed at the things your mind can accomplish with a little training. for instance, making habits and such. its just training and shit like that that let you recognize that you are dreaming.

hey thanks for the comments on my story. It's gotten a lot of attention and been published all over countless times. It's even one me an award in school.

But Lucid Dreaming is no doubt the most awesome thing you can do. The real world is sooo boring compared to going to sleep at night and going through all of the limitless possibilities!

You get to customize the girl you screw too!!! lol!

here's a great training web site for lucid dreaming

http://www.xs4all.nl/~pasquale/TTM/1/index.html

Everybody needs to learn how to do it because you don't know what you're missing. You just need effort and committment. IT can be hard at times but once your practice...you could be good in about a week in a half.

Good luck!
