Just wanted to start a conversation. So, what would you guys consider a rare vinyl? I hear many people say that ayu - m is hard to find. Is it because there where few vinyls pressed? because it isn't easy to find anymore? Are certain records defined as rare from the time they are released or do they gain the title 'rare' along the way?
Lost Tribe - gamemaster (original mix)
seemed pretty rare to me, i had a bitch of a time finding it.
finally got it on ebay for you don't want to know how much. let's
just say i ordered 8 records today, and it was cheaper than that one was by itself.
a record is rare, when it is not being pressed anymore, and all the copies are sold.
some records (fire999) only get like 999 pressings, making them rare as soon as they are pressed.
some are just white labels, pressed by someone who doesn't have the dough for a full release.
white labels can sometimes be the BEST records though.
also, there are special vinyls, colored ones, limited edition sets, etc, those are rare too.
white labels I would say are rare of the rare. And it could be anything, a crap tune or a killer
Underworld - Born Slippy (Paul Van Dyk remix)
and the full version of System F - Solstice is what I would consider rare vinyls.
to me gamemaster isn;t that hard to find over here in australia.
rare stuff to me is basically any song i am after! here in brisbane australia we get vinyl releases way late, and in brisbane we get barely anything. But we do get good stuff sometimes.

I picked up Lost Tribe - Distant Voices EP (My Soul, Gamemaster, My Soul, Angel 4/4 Mix) from HMV for �3 when it first came out in 1997. They had plenty of copies and so did every other shop so it wasn't rare back then. Now try finding a copy!

the rank1 - airwave (true love never dies) whitelable is EXTREMELY rare,, I saw it once on ebay for well over 100 US.

just wondering i bought the this terra ferma ep the other day not because i thought it would be rare or anything but i was just wondering if anyone might know if it is anyway its a red vinyl which i dunno makes it look so cool

Colored vinyl doesn't contain the same quality plastic as traditional black vinyl. Also, colored / clear vinyl will usually have lower fidelity (sound quality) than black vinyl for the same reason. But it sure looks cool, doesn't it?!

Hmm.. I found Lost Tribe - Distant Voices E.P. on ebay a while back. It's definitely not in stores, tho.
hmm thats weird eh you wouldnt think just the colour would make a differance but i do know what you mean my terra ferma vinyl does sound a little crackly

Well.. I guess my rarest one is DMB vs. Tiesto - The Space Between.
It took me about half a year to find this one, but atlast I have it now .
