Danny Tenaglia

Shit on me, I shit on you...blah blah.

I don't know if it's aging, a case of the "angles", an accident, or his face was always like that, but look at the difference between these pictures:

Was he in an accident?

Actually I think it's due to the fact of all the stress he has trying to protect his sets from being recorded...

Danny Tenaglia born March 7, 1961. Dudes 47,i mean hes old and shit.

Posted by IpLaYWiTLiGhTs on Apr-27-2008 23:08:

Yeah, seems right.

Just was amazed at the drastic change. The first picture is from 1999 (or at least that's when GU:010 was released, maybe the picture is from earlier years), and the last picture is recent.

10 year difference...shouldn't be that big. Plus 47 isn't THAT old.

I think you're spot on. Before and after pictures of Presidents commonly reveal the same thing.

Posted by epdarks on Apr-27-2008 23:40:

Before and after meth abusers look the same too, and I think it's a more fitting analogy in the case.

I was thinking it...but I didn't want to say it

Before and after pictures of meth abusers usually have a much larger distinction.

yeah someone asked me why i thought he was frightening in a COR thread -

guess they haven't seen him recently.

it's even 10 times scarier when he's spinning with flashlights like a robot and repeating the word cheeseburger over and over

haha...

and yeah, seeing this video below made me start the thread. His face looks jacked...

Thought he got burned or something. Just looks like blemishes from acne?

Posted by LionsLair on Apr-28-2008 01:36:

I love his Back To Basics comp and live gigs.

cass & slide - free your mind (ben shaw remix)
dubtribe system - do it now
narcotic Thrust - safe from harm (Andy Morris & Stuart Crichton Mix) -
terror - fused
sharpside - belgian resistance

Better not record those live gigs, though:

old as dirt. but yah overdramatic and probably doesnt understand the free marketing he could have from his mixes getting out, and how he can make people happy, since thats one of his mantra's "making people happy." Still a talented DJ with equisite taste. I think also Danny Howells dislikes when people record his sets without him knowing.

Posted by IpLaYWiTLiGhTs on Apr-28-2008 01:53:

Well if we're going to make this an appreciation thread...

Despite his ego and issues with recording sets, I think he's a very talented DJ. Like I said in a another thread I think Danny is one of the few DJ's who can play a long ass set without losing your interest because of the ground he'll cover. Danny Howells is another DJ who can pull this amazingly well.

Really love when Danny gets into his twisted techno mood...you're in for a nightmare.

And who could forget Blondie - Nothing Is Real But The Girl (Danny Tenaglia Club Mix)

Posted by rizo on Apr-28-2008 06:12:

saw him for the first time this past friday and i was entertained by his set but ya his face is a bit scary depending on the lighting esp when using those lights

i went nuts when he played it

Posted by ghostridenhuffy on Apr-28-2008 07:08:

... I'm fairly certain that his face was airbrushed for the cover of 'Athens'. He does have bad acne scars. That aside, he is one helluva house dj and has contibuted almost more than anyone when it comes to underground house music - flamboyant or not.

+1

He might act like a pop diva sometimes, but it doesn't change that fact that he is still one of the best house dj:s (if not the best) in the world

Those GU covers are from around 2000, and much can happen appearance-wise in eight years.

As ghost said, these are likely airbrushed pictures, as is probably the case with most covers. Take a look at Warren's GU: Paris cover- kind of hard to see a resemblance to it in person.

As for him as a DJ, I actually haven't heard much of his material at all, and the most prominent little factoid I have about him comes from DJ Mag's critical remarks in the 2006 (?) polls concerning how he was "too busy" to acknowledge the people who voted for him by filling out the information card they sent him (or something to that effect), as his section was blank.

By the amount of hats he has I'm guessing he's bald.

It's one thing to dislike when someone does things without asking and another to be a real bitch and obtuse like Tenaglia is...

That's because Nick couldn't make it to the cover shoot and Fatboy Slim happened to be nearby and filled in for him.
