ROADTRIP!!!

Pretty unhappy I'm out of town for this. His show at Stereo in February was literally the best I've ever seen. Saw him again in Vancouver in March and it was more of the same. This guy is fucking awesome and you really should not miss it.

Reviews please.

Posted by John_H2O on May-10-2008 17:14:

he did good srly, first time I saw him. He was kind of irregular the first hour, hour and half, but around 6h30, started drop the major tek house I wanted to hear. I like the way he mix the structure on the bassline, and many of his transition was very nice, some complex, some I found kidda easy for a dj of his level. Lots of nice tune, pretty fresh, actual. I leave at 8h30

Mini Review

Good review John.

Sick ass basslines, wet sounding as is his sound-i find. Grumbly wet submerged basslines one on top of another providing a good kick in the ass :P strong vibes, guess it was highly tek influenced house, minimal tribaly dark dirty foot stopming music with a bit of grace but pretty much DIRTY hehe. To many break downs or whtvr early on, got better as time went by. Felt he did not deliver as hard as before, could have just been my trip. Definately more experienmental with us this time around. Great Night as always.

Nice to see other Montreal Dj's chillin and rockin it on the dance floor - feelin what we feel while they r playing, sick shit! lol

So tonight I have learned that i fucking love Stereo in general, the atmosphere can not be beaten for me, at least not yet....

Joubin played a nice warm up set I was there from 2 to 10:30.

When Dimas got started I could not stop dancing his set was pure bliss...

Some notable tracks that I could id.

Quivver - Surin fucking prog heaven I swear....
System 7 - Space Bird (Dubfire Deep Space Remix)
Sia - The girl you lost to Cocaine (SVD mix?)
D-Formation - What you want

There was many more tracks that I knew but can't get across my head atm...

Loved it from the beginning till end.

See you all who I met next time

i think (dunno why) but i have this gut feeling that dimas is gonna quickly become that "new" overused international DJ who keeps playing the same stuff over and over again. like every time he comes back (every 4 months right?) there will be at least 5-10 tracks in that set which were in his last one. kinda like the new chus and ceballos. he did replace their residency right?

anyways, surin is hot but did he play the original or the tobias lutzenkirchen remix? i hope he played the remix...i'd say it's more melodic techno than prog

the other tracks are so very MEH esp. the girl you lost to cocaine which is just terrible in any way shape or form.

i assume he played joubin's remix of what u want?

space bird's cool but getting old fast.

heard from a close friend he actually sucked this time around...bigtime. like, nothing compared to the first time. no tight mixing, no flow, and absurdly overplayed tracks.

makes me feel better hehe

I remember now he also played Let's Take Drugs (Cedric Gervais Remix)

He played Surin (Original Mix)
They are both awesome now that i listen to the other one Original one is still fukin hot)

I think I met about 30-40 people that night and not a single one of them gave negative feedback, a lot of those people went to his last performance too...

Fuck I can't believe I am saying this after loving the trance for a long time but house is now definitely taking over, there is no way I could listen to trance for more then a few hours and I was there for the whole night enjoying every little bit till the last track

Trust me, it was a really good night... And I will definitely be there next time he comes around

Success!!! You have officially been assimilated!

ughhhh that cedric gervais track is pretty bad too imo; eeeesssshhhhh i mean the bush vocal is kinda cool but whatever...anyways, i only caught dimas for the last hour of his set the last time he was here and might i say he absolutely RIPPED IT i was dancing like a maniac at 9am when i got to the club after sleeping allll night lol! so i guess i can't really judge based on that hour but i try to keep up to date with his sets nonetheless. whatever, im sure it was good but not stellar

by the way, stereo really does (call me gay but...) well, it stereolizes you. the sound system cleanses your previous conceptions of sound experience and never ever fails to provide the goods, unless you have a really bad DJ raping the system. im really happy you found a niche at the temple, yay!

hope you come to danny howells, sun may 18th THAT i guarantee will blow dimas's ass out of the water

I don't know you, but reading some of your posts regarding DJs, productions, happenings at Stereo, etc and you come across as this big "know it all", but you really shouldn't come off like that because you can get called out on stuff.

So, let me get this straight, if a DJ plays some stuff from his last set, (with your suggested # of 5-10) that means he sucks? There are a lot of DJs that do this, especially if it is something they edited and will not release. Ie Tenaglia, Calderone, Bailey, Chus and Ceballos, etc. And some DJs have trademark tracks that you will hear at every set...

Chus and Ceballos are still residents. D-Formation did not replace their residency.
