Hello again! Long time since I posted a mix. I plan on doing monthly mixes again but now with my cohort Lucas K, his mix for the month will be up very shortly.

Here is the first mix for my new site, Silent Sonance. What I wanted to have for a theme on this one was a moodier vibe with sort of an impending storm atmosphere. Or a storm in the distance headed your way. Heh, well I think it was due to the crazy crappy weather we were having for a while. Hailing, windy rain, dark and bleak. But that's the Pacific North West for you. The Beauty of Silence mix is outstanding and proved to be a great opening track that provided a broad and thematic introduction. The next track is just absurdly great, the original done by one of my all time favorite producers Kosmas Epsilon and the excellent remix done by one of my new favorites, Eelke Kleijn. Moonbeam is also a new name to me and has demonstrated incredible skills, and sky dub is a track that humble at first builds to an incredible crescendo that is exactly the type of vibe I was looking for. That is probably my second favorite track in the set, next to the next track, Defibrillator by Soliquid. I'm absolutely in love with this track and it only grows stronger with each listen. After that is Electric Sheep which gets the mix moving a bit faster and more energetic an amazing track by the Signalrunners who otherwise I haven't been a huge fan of. Speaking of surprising entries is This is That by Gareth Emery. He also never caught much of my attention until now. This track is just sick; and yes it has a lot of similarities with previous tracks but it is just done so well and the break beat style breakdown is superb! Personally I listen to EDM because it is constantly progressing; production methods get more advanced, technology grows and sounds refine. While there are trends and shifts of the hot new style, overall I believe that EDM is a constantly evolving on it's own roots and when a producers borrow and improve on previous sounds then that's what it's all about. What are remixes if not exactly that. I better stop now or I will have a freaking novel here.

Hope you enjoy the mix. Comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Heh, thanks. A lot of people I know don't like the name, but a lot of others do. I think you have to get the reference otherwise you think I'm some Transformers loving geek. LOL. Hope you like it and let me know if you do.

Nice, where's the trip to?

Don't forget we still have to do another collab. Would love to hear the tracks you have picked out.

hiya

trip 'down' the europe, hungary, croatia maybe. spontaneous. Leaving in 3 hours :>

After first listen to your mix. You present amazing skill again. I will come back with more detailed review, but hey! Electric Sheep hit my head Defibrillator - I'm there with ya

Regarding the collab - I will prepare a bunch of tracks for you right after I'm back. I just need to re-listen to the tracks and select 'the bestest'
stay tuned, cheers!

just finished listening at work - good stuff! mixing is spot on for the most part, and the track selection is generally quite good. Moonbeam is definitely a producer to keep an eye on.

Ill be checking out your next mix for sure.

Good to see you back, mate. Giving this a go now!

Nice to have you back!

Strong as ever, I see What I like about your mixes is that there never are any dull moments, you always seem to pick the right tracks at the right time. Which makes for a joyful listening experience of course

Hopefully there's plenty more to come

Thanks, nice to be back into it. Went to see Sasha and Digweed last week at the Roseland in Portland and it was off the hook. Just contributed to my love for dance and EDM.

Thanks mate, i don't always try to have a constant energy but i try to have a good flow. I think this set was pretty safe for my standards but it definately has a great comfortable vibe.

Very enjoyable mix, had it on in the background so wasn't really paying to much attention to the mixing, but nothing stood out and it progressed well and smoothly. Hopefully we won't have to wait so long for the next one!!

righty.

As I wrote before, amazing skills, extraordinary sounds.
I prefer the first half of the mix personally. And by prefer I mean I had it on repeat 10 times 3 tracks really did it for me: Kosmas Epsilon in Eelke Kleijn remix, Soliquid and Electric Sheep.
First transition was top notch. Second and third track flow nicely, but the mix was somehow sudden, miserable blend :P Other transition that has the same symptoms is Electric Sheep -> This Is That.

But to end in an optimistic way, friend of mine who is your #1 fan told me that this is most likely your best mix ever, so...

Haven't listened yet - just saw this and was amazed to see you back with a new mix!!! (Made me come out of lurk mode!)

Welcome back!!!

Just listening to this set...for the 5th time! Fantastic, beginning to end.

Really liked the track selection, mostly vocal-less, and pretty dynamic sounds. Was not at all repetitive or cheese. Great timing on switching the tracks out, which helped build the mood and kept it moving.

I actually searched Metatron on Google because I downloaded a 2005 (2006?) set labeled "Lustral", which was just blissful. This came up and I took a listen to see how much your style had changed. I can confirm that it is still fantastic trance.

Haha, thanks man. Yeah the mix into Sky was a difficult one as that track is a bit awkward, but I loved it so much and i had to have it there. Electric Sheep into This is That I didn't notice before but your right it's a bit awkward. thanks again and tell your friend thanks.

Just discovered this. It's good, as in, what a pleasant discovery!

Also checked out the Mon-soon collab, that's great, too.
Let me know when you guys play at 111 Minna in San Francisco.

Not possible. I'm his #1 fan here on TA
I can't believe I missed this set! It's been quite a while since you last posted a set here, good to see you're back! I'll download and let you know what I think tomorrow.

P.S. Your Galactic Cannibalism, Verdant Symbiosis, and Incalescent sets still get plenty of air time on my car. They are among my favorite sets from someone here on TA

Posted by woscar on Oct-19-2008 18:24:

I'm getting ready to listen to your set...do you happen to have a cue file like you had for your previous mixes? That would be awesome!

Posted by Thriller on Oct-24-2008 04:34:

Solid mix in my book, but I think I noticed one small flub (or it might just be me). The highs in Cubabe seemed a little too loud in the beginning, I couldn't tell if it was the gain or highs that needed to be turned down. Shake it, was my favorite track.

Posted by sensorium on Oct-29-2008 04:51:

Very good mix, sir. Excellent track selection.

Please, do make another one, progressive oriented.

This mix is pure quality with great mixing. I wasn't to fond with the beginning, some mediocre tracks imo, The tracks i liked is when you transitioned into the middle when you reached the climax of the mix. Your first transition was pretty solid with flawless mixing. The second transition was a little bit out of phase, either you spun the track too early or too late. The 4th transition had a little bit of melody clashing and was spun to early but overall good. The entire mix is pretty flawless. I enjoyed most of the mix, let me know when you make another

cheers
