Anyone here ever been to Dallas?

I'm going to be there this Friday.

Lookin for recommendations of venues with proper tunage.

lizard lounge is ok...but dallas is very shit. The w on thursdays is kinda cool...but dallas is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZz.

Funny, when you think back to 80's and Dallas and San Antonio owned the mdma scene(pretty much implemented it into the club scene) was one of the bigger edm area's in north america

not sure about now, but back in the 80's it was legal and pure, it was documented at outings such as family bbq's and other such events you would come across an aunt, uncle, your mom or dad high.

Even though it has an active forum, doesn't look like a whole lot is going on besides a some young kids listening to breaks or dnb (see photos).

if i ever set foot in texas the first thing i'd try is their bbq.

yea lizard lounge is pretty horrible however if ur there on a thrusday, ghostbar, like the one in vegas, which is on the 33rd floor of the W hotel downtown plays house music on thurs and has brought in decent headliners the past few weeks....junkie xl, felix da housecat, and a few others. other than that the only advice i can give u is stay away from the afterhours clubs!! pure hell with the worst music ive ever heard!

Yes but from my understanding Dallas is the best city to live in Texas.

not even close, that would be austin...even san antonio is better.

dallas sucks and the bbq is shit too, trust me on this. Memphis style > texas style...even kansas city bbq is better.

ghostbar is in the W hotel...its probably a bunch of dj's who call themselves the 12" pimps. They suck hard and expect to hear party all the time and the cheesiest fucking house you can imagine. The place is nice though and you get a neat view of the city.

oh yeah, on your way home expect your flight to be delayed forever...it always is at dfw.

Thanks to all for the tips & info.... looks like it's just going to being drinking in corporate america with some played out edm facsimiles. Perhaps I will need to engage in some Hunter S Thompson style gonzo journalism and fire it onto the intarwebs.

Wow, you guys are funny. Been in Dallas one day and you think you have it all figured out. Dallas has struggled as of late with the EDM scene, but there are still plenty of places to go.

Funny that someone brought up the 12 inch pimps. That's not even close to being some of the best DJ's in town, with the exception of Willie and Kean.

I could have told you (oh wait, I did tell you) that Ghostbar would suck You went to a commercialized corporate run bar. What the hell did you expect?

If you ever come back to Dallas, try going to the places we recommend. Or better yet, hit one of us up and we'll all meet out for drinks. Plenty of places to go listen to really good music, if you don't follow the 30k millionaire crowd.

That said, when I called the places recommended to me, all said that they were closing at 2 or so, so no point in going on a forray to hunt down something that'd be closed by the time I got there.

The bottom line is that I tolerated as much as I could, then when I finally had a chance to check out what else there was, there was nothing left to check out b/c it was all closing ... so what's the deal with that? Everyone in the state gets to carry guns, but nothing is open past 2?

Come on Texas, get it together.

Jonas, get on up here to Toronto, you will love it & I'll be sure to meet up with you for drinks and venue selection. But be prepared, nothing worth attending closes before 4am here, so bring your stamina.

Haha! Yeah, some things really don't make sense in terms of our laws.

I didn't realize you would be wanting to go out late night. There are a couple of options there that I could have told you about. Don't think any of them would be a place you would want to go with your boss, though.

Indeed you do. Check out the events forum and go from there note that every Labour Day (that's how it's supposed to be spelled lol) in the past there havev been great TA BBQ parties, and evven though Tatgirl is away, I don't see us not doing one in memory of her block parties. So perhaps that'd be a solid weekend to look at.
