This mix is absolutely great, Greg!

There was a lot of funky sounds in this one, which was cool, and accompanied by a lot of big stabby synth sounds. There were some tracks in here that I would not have expected to hear you play in a set (like the Alex Metric track) but it totally fit into this mix.

When I listen to this set, I feel like I'm listening to music that is "intelligent" without being "boring"... which is a balance I feel that a lot of DJs have trouble finding. I hate to use the word "intelligent" when referring to music, but I think you catch my drift. This set is full of moments that are catchy without being cheesy, and that's hard to come by.

And, that "Let's Take Drugs" track was awesome.

What a peculiar looking tracklist for you... giving this a shot now.

Checkin this out when I get a chance. Enjoyed your last mix a good bit.

This was pretty solid, Greg. The first 10 tracks really fit together really well, and in general from beginning to end this mix definitely "goes somewhere."

I didn't care much for the last 5 tunes - they were mixed well and all, just seemed to jump about a bit, and I don't really care for "Let's Take Drugs" or that DP bootleg.

Regardless, still a really sound effort.

i would. but i've been bumping so much Luke Fair lately that I'm afraid my whole current catalog is way too influenced by him, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

maybe this weekend i'll throw something together, i just don't want it to be "omg, Fair's playlist in different order!"

so hopefully yours will clear and refresh my palate.

That was a pretty damn cool mix mate

Though, I thought the 'drugs' song was kinda lame and annoying, sorry

Quite different from your previous stuff! Good job

Alright a few things off the bat. I just had a ton of coffee, so this will be unnecessarily long winded and likely pointless. Read at your own peril.

Starting things off, the beginning whatever the melody loops were felt out of place. Almost like tacked onto the song to give it a bit of an intro. I dont know if this is a part of the original tune, or something you attached yourself. But it was a bit meh in my opinion. The song itself works. Great opening track, a bit of spacy-ness (I know, Im inventing words as I go along) to it. The greatest aspect is that bassline, really delivers on so many levels feel, depth, groove it sets up your set in so many ways. At the moment Im expecting a deep progressive set, I havent really scoped your tracklist before I started to listen.
First mix is smooth, and the deep drum bassline continues well into it great part of the mix. When the drum patterns kick in they dont feel out of place. Your selection didnt continue with the melodic feel of the opener, but the bump is still there so it works. Energy-wise, this set is already on its way UP! The bit of vocals give it a crowd friendly environment, nice touch.
Mix two is great because it brings back a bit of that spacy-ness I was talking earlier about. Re-introducing an element right away, I like it. The mix was quick too, almost likely the progressive-deep aspect at the beginning of your mix never left. Nice deep breakdown in the middle. We still have vocals, and some drum-pattern in the background, which creates a nice flow from #2 to #3. This means, however, (for my tastes) next track you gotta go with some lyrics or completely cut out the vocals. I guess well see.
Am I hearing a bit of bleep and bloop in the background? Definitely! A very sneaky mix between #3 and #4! Great deep house feel, a few tech elements, but not overboard. Great selection here too. So far this is my favorite song, especially with the strings in the middle of the breakdown, more along the lines of what Im into at the moment. The energy is on the move up again, fantastic stuff so far.
The two mixes being a bit left-field, I was looking for something steady, and sure enough you delivered. Nice flow into #5 and continuing with the groovy funk that was established over the last few tunes but going deeper into it. Now this is deep progressive house, mmmmmmm. This now took over as my favorite track of the mix and definitely something I will be picking up for my own repertoire.
The ending was abrupt and some electro elements kicked in I was like where did #5 go?! It wasnt bad, just a bit of a disappearing act by a good song, a steadier mix wouldve been better. However the vocals are a good introduction here, Ive been waiting for them to appear for the past 2 tracks. LOL! The middle of this song just got ridiculous Yo I cant talk right now, whatever! *insert vinyl scratches* Interesting aspect Gets me wondering how youll follow this one up. Have to admit the song does make me want to dance.
Is this Hot Chip? More of a bell and beat feel to this song (Radioslavish?). Its another curveball, but it worked better this time. Crazy piece of work, with trumpets and laughing, I guess keeping in line with the last songs bit of crazy shit. But its hella-funky. Around 31:45 is my favorite part the steady part.
Ok enough crazy shit, back to the good old funky house. Theres that spacey feeling again, I think its the s/fx of the songs you chose. But theyre all over the place and definitely give the set an overall steady/common element which is a good thing. Its oozing FUNK! That bass-guitar is doing wonders on my psyche.
Lol, now I feel like Im in a disco. This is some serious, serious funk yall. This next song makes me wanna wear some aviators. But what happened to the deep progressive shit I was enjoying over the past two three songs Ive felt like things have taken a turn down another road Yawn, it got drawn out (almost bored and annoyed), change it please.
Ok this set took a turn for the worse. As theorized in previous posts the so-called drugs song is simply blatant and annoying. I guess it follows the example set by the previous tune. I get the novelty factor of Bush sayings compiled into this crap, but thats all it is, a novelty song that really doesnt work on any level other than some minor amusement which quickly wears off.
Never been happier to hear another mix coming. While I was busy being annoyed it went completely unnoticed that the set has some rich tones of techno. I like this tune, the energy is high, the pace is fast. Theres some melodic things here and there but theres also TECHNO! Maybe house-techno? with break-beat interludes. Very trippy stuff.
Over the past few tunes we went from a lounge atmosphere to a more up-tempo club. Theres definitely a lot of energy here, but Im still wondering what happened to the deep progressive house and if itll ever come back. Its still house but theres a lot of techno and electro elements being introduced. To be honest Im not digging it as much, but thats, of course, a personal choice.
Ive lost count of what track this is, but I think its second to last. Im back into the set again with it, its melodic and has a bit of vocals to it. Nice up-tempo deep house with a steady bassline that Ive enjoyed at the beginning of the set. You might be settling down a bit, coming out of the funk you were in. Nice smooth song to get ready for a closing of this set.
An interesting closer. Its very different, especially with the unsteady beat in the middle. I really like it. Again it brings back some of that spacey element that faded over the middle of the set.

Thats about it, lol, god thats a lot to sort through. Sorry Greg, and dont take any of this personally or to heart. Im just writing because I got nothing better to do and am bored out of my skull at work. Thanks for providing the entertainment!
