Renovations to Skybar and Main Room Patio

i dont know if this has been talked bout yet on TA but on saturday it looked like the main room patio got a complete overhaul and bigger....the bar is now a big square in the middle....and i do believe they moved the dj booth on the skybar.....and its listed on the guv web site to open May 24th and to "Come and Experience the new Skybar with Chris Nunez"......

the guv patio was not completed but you can get a general idea of how it will look.
the bar is now and island bar and can serve a lot more people as it is much bigger. there is more seating. it just looks a lot bigger now.
as for skybar, i dont think the dj booth will be relocated but it will be redesigned.

i've been noticing a lot of business going on between z103.5 and Guv. Ever since they interviewed PVD back in November.

I am happy for Manzone and Strong anyothet locals (vinyl junkies,roaches,joee cons etc).. locals who are going to get a nice slot of airplay.

BUT, I personally don't like the "drinking" crowd

Yes, it helps spread good edm, keep our beloved guv alive and pumping with revenue and recognition.

I just personally feel, that although out of the say 100-200 new patrons who pass through maybe 5-10 will actually appriciate the music and become regulars. The rest are just going to be a pain in the ass.

Who the fuck am i to say where ppl should go and should not go? I have no say...I have really only been going to Guv for about 4 yrs, and ppl who came before said that i have missed the glory days, the last 2 summers i've seen the scene grow and change and though its done some good, its also brought a totally different change and vibe, on some nites similar to the article in the thread shaya posted a while back.

Whatever i probably stepped on toes with this response, its just my opinion...from a business perspective salut to guvy...from my perspective i am not overly happy with the recent "celeb" booking in the mainroom and the radio syndication...i guess i've always dreamed of some place where i could have a piece of the underground that started it all, things i'd read about...Frankie Knuckles and chicago in the 70's and 80's.

Good for Ink Ent., good for guv management and dj's, bad for the people who share my thoughts or feelings....

I wonder how much the owner makes.. I am guessing a cool half million a year...profit!
Guv itself must make at least 2 million a year in revenue. The renovations cost prob a cool million.
One thing I hope they renovate one day is the main room washroom,,, I mean i would never take a dump there.. i know the orange room is good for taking dumps,, u never get hassled.
As for z1035 .. i think its good business for guv since that station has twice the listeners as 935... soo more younger crowd and greasy Italians will be packing themselves into the new skybar! ahahha,, that one is just for tutti fruity !!

can't wait to see what its gonna look like!

2nd fuck off with the greasy italian shit, a good majority of dj's at guv are italians that you pay an admission to see.

3rd its not our business to know how much charles makes, he owns or has his hands in dynasty of clubs and promoting teams.

jsbillin.. for sure he makes more then half a mill dude... think about labour of love alone.. admission costs lol. not talking about drinks.. then lets say the money from coat checks pays all the workers for the night.. the rest is just building expenses, bookings, and other shit. but still theres obviously good money in it haha

Agreed with your later comments. It is a great business decision for guv. I just hope M&S don't have to switch their style because it's now on the radio.

I don't think I spent any time on SkyBar unless it was an all access event and it'll probably continue this year. That could definitely change this summer if the gallery doesn't return to a weekly basis.

As long as it doesn't effect sunrise sets in anyway then go right ahead!

edit: really glad to hear they renovated skybar/main patio. Those were the only two areas left that needed work.

it sucks but the reality is that the crowd up there has always been kinda lame and boring (besides special events) ... the music is always good but rarely do you see people dancing or going off to the music ...

If it's LTA, doesn't that mean that they have to play a certain percentage of Canadian tracks?

That means they will drop the productions of their Toronto/Montreal boys and it's on the radio. That to me, is a good thing.

fully agreed with you there. The mandatory 35% CanCon ends at midnight though.

edit: Z just started a live to air from Runway 224 (number might be wrong) on Sat nights from 10-1 (I think), so I could see SkyBar being 1-4am
