Wizzy noize- Sea song

The best song of the year so far. Awesome baseline with some beautiful strings.

thoughts?

From the samples i like it. I like the strings, they have an epic Vangelis-style feel. Its just that full-on psy-trance, with the very fast bits and all those effects coming in and out, makes me a bit...dizzy (especially after some listening time). Somehow they give me an over-produced impression (the same goes for modern epic-trance as well). Nevertheless, the current track is indeed very good. I don't know if its the "best" so-far since i don't listen to a lot of trance these days (although some samples from the new Airwave album sounded equally great), but comparing to the majority of ASOT, Anjunadeep and THE Armin album, this is indeed an oasis in the dessert!

P.S. The greeks know their shit when it comes to progressive and psychedelic. Wizzy Noize

a generic psy trance with a melody... it sounds gr8 but not best... its so weird for me that joof is playing stuff i was regulated to hear in "nature parties" (i dont know what to call them... you just go to nowhere with trees/sand/sea and theres a dj boot and speakers and nothing else but people... until the police comes) and such...

what about ticon? he is a rising name in that industry ive heard his new album, gr8 stuff... not my taste tho... and maybe new stuff from eskimo? i like them much more then wizzy noise... but thats just me

Ticon is two people and the only real great thing they have done IMO is their Zero Six After album. That is what ProgPsy should sound like!

RIP Saki is the best tune from these guys, outstanding.

Ah.. that Out Of The Loop track on that CD is just so hot.

Posted by Domesticated on May-02-2008 06:59:

Ticon has switched to electro/prog house.

Their new album, [2am] is great.

their debute album Rewind is equally as good. It's rawer and not as clean as Zero Six After. We Are The Mammoth Hunters on a good sound system = pure orgazm

actually, you cant go outdoor in tel aviv ... the parties are in the suburbs, in the least populated areas...

Posted by Magadansky on May-02-2008 16:25:

Ticon are everything but a newcomers lol. They have 4 albums by now and except the last one, all are good. Zero Six After is maybe their best but a lot of tracks in Aero and Rewind are not just to be passed up. Super Model Girlfriend, Back to Basics, Ghost in the Machinery, Elt, Snooze da Booze, Cozy Cactus... all are class.

On topic: the track is very very enjoyable but for me it's not the best one till now for this year. But still ranks pretty good.

Posted by Ste on May-02-2008 18:09:

not really sure you can call wizzy noise "generic psy trance sound".

granted their own sound doesnt vary too much from track to track but wizzy noise's psy trance is so far from generic it's unfunny. if it's so generic then i'd like to hear all these many other artists that sound like them

anyway, nice tune, although maybe a lil bit on the fluffy side, i'd like to see wizzy have a few more darker techier tunes like ultra magnetic on their new album as well as stuff like this.

In the Dirt is the greatest track ever by them IMO

+1, I love that track

This Wizzy Noise track gets easily lost within the same sounding saturated and boring full-on psy-trance genre.

The very first genre of dance music I ever listened to was psy-trance and goa. Started out with Astral Projection, Infected Mushroom, Simon Posford. Then everything from Ticon, Astrix, Talamasca, Etnica, Vibrasphere, Logic Bomb, Audialize, Green Nuns of The Revolution, Lemurians, Melicia, Parasense, Fractal Glider, Psydrop, Sandman, Talpa, X-Dream... the list could go on for days of the albums I own. Psynews.org and Saikosounds used to me my best friends.

So me and psy-trance have a good long history. Granted in the past couple of years I have let go of psy-trance because it's all sounding the same, no one has originality anymore, it's become rediculous. Wizzy Noise has put out some great music in the past, and I'm not saying that this song is horrible, it just gets lost within the genre it is in and is forgettable.

But in the end it's just an opinion, everyone is entitled to one. Just because mine might differ from yours doesn't mean my knowledge of a genre needs to come in question, but since you put it on the table I thought I'd explain that I'm simply not just someone who occasionally listened to psy-trance, it is the foundation of my whole EDM life.

Fair enough man, can't argue with that.

Fair enough I respect that.To me on the other hand psy trance is something that never gets boring, and I admit there is alot of crap out there that dont sound good at all but thats with any type of music I guess.

p.s. I still havent been able to catch Wizzy Noise live yet,but soon hopfuly.

I've heard better tracks from them, definitely, even though I'm not a big fan.

Btw. "hardcore trancer", how long have you listened to psy-trance?

Yeah Wizzy noise was always just ok for me, though "Leslie Dusty Blue" and a few others were pretty damn sick.

Haven't heard Electro Suns new album. I'll listen to some samples on Saikosounds (if available) and see if I can get any judgement from that, usually they are 3 min samples and you get the jist of things... but sometimes with psy-trance the best part is the climax, but if it's a good song the whole thing should be a good listen :P

I'll let you know

I'm just so sick of the rolling basslines that offer no difference from one artist to the next. The sounds and samples are predictable and boring, and the awesome psy-trance melodies are usually lackluster and unoriginal. I just have been running into a lot of crap recently within the psy-trance world. No one is standing out to me, and I'm waiting for some fresh and inspirational talent. Psy-Trance has room for so much creativity and greatness yet I don't seeing that being too much explored.

Hail the almighty Simon Posford and Infected Mushroom (The Gathering to BP Empire, even SOME of CV) for being amazingly creative and unparalleled within the psy-trance world. We need more artists like them.

Just checked out the samples (they were actually 4 min long) and I def liked some of what I heard. Good energy, nice melodies. The melodies were def psy but also more fluffy so I could see them mixing in with some normal trance if done right. Highlights for me were 1, 2, 5 (the beginning was nice) and 7 (my favorite).

I can see why you like this album, though I know some psy-snobs about there may say it may be kinda cheesey at times, but I dig it, good stuff... sounds a slight bit goa-ish with new school psy.

+1, great tune.

I was always a bit iffy with Wizzy, very much hit and miss. "P.H.A.T.T." came out with Nikola Gala and was taken! One of my favs for last year for sure!
Nothing has bettered this but i quite like his tough hard trance/psy sound.

Now that you mentioned Nikola Gala, i just remembered that Nikola Gala used to produce some very good full-on psy-trance under the name "Source Unknown". That was in 1999 or 2000 if i remember well.
