I dont know much about the SOund of this Mixer.. SO... if Someone has bad or good Experience.. or at least knoe some about Gemini's Mixer Let me know.. is just that PCV will be A lot Money to me... and I will be happy with like 30 more Records !
Thanks In Advance
gemini mixers are no good. they sound like shit and they wear out in less than a year. buy vestax or pioneer or allen & heath.
try to buy the vestax., in my opinion. Gemini's are cheaply made in comparison
no, they are not....
talking about gemini's
I have a Gemini Ps - 676. Woulndt say that its bad...
It works pretty good actualy.
Had it for 2 years and its still working.

.... More comments are Welcome.
I've had the PS-626 for almost a year now and have to say I am looking for a new mixer soon. I work my EQ's a lot during any set I play, especially the highs, and the Gemini mixer just hasn't coped, one of my channels the high has gone completely and on the other it is beginning to go. So I am stuck with using channel 1 and 3 just now, and channel 1 does not have its own dB display so it is hard to adjust the sound levels. The faders are crap, no let me rephrase that, the faders are pathetic, they lose any resistance they had within a week making smooth mixing harder. Sound quality is incredibly mediocre and at times makes your mixing sound a lot harsher than other mixers would.
On the plus side, the eq's are quite good and the kills are pretty good. And it is cheap, but you get what you pay for these days.
If you want a better mixer for a similar price I would check out the Behringers range, they are a joy to use compared to the Geminis. But the Vestax is only about 100-150 dearer than the PS-626 (Don't know price of the 700, but it will be more than 626) so in my opinion if you like the Vestax then it will be worth the extra money!
if you have the money for the 275, get it.. if you cant be stuffed saving, just go Gemini. Not all of the mixers are stuffed up. Many last in working condition for years actually.

| Originally posted by DJ Bazz I have the PS 700, it was a used one and I could get it for a cheap price, it's a nice mixer I think, maybe the faders aren't that good anymore, mine was actually heavy used for 2 years you know. but everything is working on my PS 700. but if you decide to buy a new one, have you realized if you want to use all the 4 channels, I actually use 3 and it's really enough. I think you have enough with 3, but I don't how much you want to use. Just buy it if you really want to use that 4 channels, I'm sure that there are some better 3-channel quality mixers. if yours is also a used one, just check it out with some other mixers, and what you could do also, is to check your mixer out for a week, just to check if everything is ok. good luck, buying it! |
The Gemini UMX series are a good bunch of mixers, they last longer than the PS or PMX series. They all come in matt black with VCA faders and generally have good sound and build quality in comparioson to other Gemini mixers. Try checking out the UMX-9.
i had ps 626 in the very beginning, and it has never fucked up.
I just bought the Umx-9 and it kicks ass, they even brag that it has less distortion than a vestax, and there is like no noise. I had a PMX 120 and it wasnt good, but the UMX series rox. min UMX-9 has 3 band eq, levels on all channels, balanaced xlr out and I only paid $150 USD for it, they are having a major sale on it at www.pssl.com
Its just like anything else, i would say the low end geminis suck but the higher end models like the UMX rock
I had a ps 626 and it's always worked fine for well over a year. At the moment I'am using a ps 1000 and it's one of the smoothest mixers I've used and compered to other mixers like numark it was very cheap 235 new.
i have the SHITTIEST mixer available to man kind... (next to the shredder)
its the Gemini PS-540i and its a peice of shit,
the faders are crap, the EQ's are crap, the kill switches dont even kill all the way, and the sound quality is crap, my mixes sound like crap too gahh stupid mixer...
by the end of this month i shall behold the pcv 275

| Originally posted by DJ Bazz if you use only 2 channels, then should I, if I was you, keep my eyes open, there might be a cheaper deal with a 2 channel or 3 channel mixer. it's worth waiting then I think. but if you really can't wait anymore and you have the tables and all the other stuff, just check the condition from that ps-700. and don't forget to ask someone who knows a lot about mixers to test it also. It's your first time that you buy a mixer, isn't it? If everything is OK with that ps-700, it sounds like a good deal to me. |
Geminis aren't that great. My old mixer was a Gemini PMX-80. I recently upgraded to a Stanton RM-3. You notice the differ big time
I say go with Stanton, or even Numark... but not Gemini
