Ok so i just got a email from destiny that TIesto is going to be opening up for Serge Devant? Are they serious? That would be f***ing awesome!

Posted by DiegoParra32 on May-04-2008 21:18:

no. re-read it. that's what i thought. if you read it carefully he is saying that Serge Devant is tiesto's official opener and that Tiesto's opener is playing. I emailed rick rodriguez and that's what he said. email him also to make sure. in any case i doubt he would charge 10 bucks a head for Tiesto. That's like throwing away money.

How was JP on friday nite?

Posted by raverchikadee on May-05-2008 19:51:

i didnt go to JP.. to be honest with you the last time i saw him there i wasnt impressed. I think i allowed everyone to work me up on how grand he is being what i was told "america's #1 dj" and when i saw him i was like oooooohhh k. i was bored. I guess its either you like him or you dont.

Posted by teckniqueZ on May-05-2008 20:43:

Im pretty sure i gave everyone ample warning as to JP's mediocrity. Listen to me because I'll give you the truth. Good or bad. Take it or leave it.

I think I'll stick with Miami and DEMF. Miami's going to be bringing in some top knotch talent for the next 2 months so if you live in South Florida there is no excuse.
Porter was good. 3 years ago. Steve hasent done anything that great for awhile. I saw Porter in NY spin a marathon and let's just say it was like a Marathon of extreme bordem.

I saw Jonathan Peters at Pacha in NYC for New Year two years ago. He was spinning a marathon set and I was ready to leave after about two hours. However, the guidos in Jersey eat that shit up! They love that guy.

he has "residency" at Destiny so you can see him again if you really want to see him.

I saw Porter during WMC at ORA and it was pretty good show. It was kinda hot in the venue so i stayed in the back room most of the night. Seemed to be about 20 degrees cooler than the main room. He packed it though. Keep in mind though Ora is a little smaller than Destiny

Honestly i am just glad to be getting djs coming in town. For a long time there orlando was dry.

I can see where your coming from.
There are alot worse.I guess I've just become very picky these days because it seems like dj's are becoming less original with less substance.JP is a prime example of technology taking over track selection and talent. If you get really drunk Im sure he'll be good.I'd go if I lived there, and had absolutly nothing at all to do.Meaning like laundry finished, dishes washed and shirts pressed.lol I mean "nothing"
Say Hi to JP's manager for me too. He's a true ass clown, even more than JP who once said during a Meth binge that he felt he was the most talented dj out there.hahahahaha
lol

ya whats with the djs these days. It really does seem like there is a huge lack of talent. Nothing really has grabbed me. I have to say the last show that actually really grabbed me was Sander K WMC 2007. Roger Sanchez when he was at Destiny had the place through the roof. But then again i really havent seen him not. Im definitely not interested in JP but Serge Devant ... ive seen him play once at nikki beach wmc 2007 and it was pretty decent. I wonder how hes going to be here in orlando. The people here are really into him from the sounds of it.

Serge Devant is ok.
He's pretty big in NY but after seeing him twice I feel that was one time too many.Again, I'd like to say that I'm very picky. Its just like you said in these days of similar sounding dj's spinning very much the same music. I tend to search for dj's doing something diffrent. Or at the very least formatting there set diffrently.I guess this is why I'm as I have always been a techno kid at heart. It just seems that the techno/minimal djs have so much new music that sounds very alien.Aswell as putting the newest technology to good use (UNLIKE JP)lol.Another thing I like about minimal techno is that there is a versatility within the genre as the good djs sound very diffrent from the next.I mean you know when your listening to a Hawtin set compared to a Dear set. Love it or hate it the minimal genre is best suited for exploring diffrent sounds and introducing fresh new ideas.
I mean dont get me wrong I love some dirty electro when its done right, but having dj.XYZ drop a remix of an older track with a cheesy electro bassline doesnt do it for me anymore. Cedric Gervais killed that sound for me long ago.lol
