Where's Mauro Picotto been lately?

Seems like he's slowing down w/ production and gigging. Is he going into retirement?

Posted by DJLafleur on May-03-2008 23:41:

idk to be honest,he's kinda seen his prime(2002-2003) I think he's done a few remixes here and there but thats all I know

Posted by SYSTEM-J on May-04-2008 00:04:

Didn't he have an album out recently?

Posted by mphreak on May-04-2008 00:11:

minimal techno.

Posted by Dj Phillip on May-04-2008 00:37:

he ave made his best with komodo, iguana, proximus and back to cali. after, there's nothing

Posted by SYSTEM-J on May-04-2008 00:39:

I'll never understand why people like Komodo so much. It's cheesy as all fuck.

Posted by Az on May-04-2008 00:40:

he had a great record out at the end of last year, can't remember off hand what it's called, but it was fucking filth

Posted by the_gamemaster on May-04-2008 02:17:

He's playing at Gatecrasher in Notts today. Lizard FTW!

Well he already announce the Meganite 2008 ibiza season http://meganite.co.uk/newsletter/me...2008/index.html
and he had an upcoming release in june [ALC025] Mauro Picotto - Komonster/Flashing/Rizlard

Posted by Glaniskanis on May-04-2008 03:00:

Mauro Picotto - Komonster will be released on Alchemy soonish (about 2 months tops) and is great!

On that note, Alchemy has got some banging stuff coming up!!

I do remember reading an interviw with him in some mag - he did say that he's winding down due to family/kids and also some hearing problems. Plus I think ever since Armin sued (and won) over copyright infringement, Mauro may have said "fuck all to this"... (that's just a stipulation, of course).

Last time he was in NYC people said the set was AWFUL. he was all over the place and at one point they were even expecting him to play "Soulja boy". Imho, his prime has passed....

I never really dug much of his techier sound and I especially never got into his buddies - Mauro Piu... wtf that punter was on is still a mystery to me. AAnywhay. rant over.

Do you just randomly use words you don't understand, then?

"Maybe, Maybe Not" ?
Lots of DJs spun that track last year.

Yep, also "Evribadi". Both came out with a bunch of remixes.

And the album, Now & Then:

I also think his other tracks are under rated..
Baguette and Bangkok were ace and Awesome is one of my favourite productions from him.

Contaminato (Meganite Mix) was the best thing i heard from him in a long time....

I was at his last NYC gig and thought it was a good set. Those who said it was awful probably wanted trance... personally I thought Memek was the better of the three that night Sander von Doorn also played this night and while I like SvD, he does much better sets in San Francisco

Why did Armin sue him?

Cause Tiesto also sued some producers, so he won't be let behind.

Tiesto now sucks and Armin rules

Indeed, been playing this one pretty much nonstop for 6 months - really, really mashes well and can take some kind of ploddy, would-be-boring or typical sounding "MNML" records and give them a kick in the arse.

Really wish I would have seen Picotto when he was last here in Chicago. Was a very, very well reviewed show - by both the laser reachers and the elitist, trainspotter snobs.

Yeah I thought he was supposedly about to retire for once? Or maybe I made that up in my mind.

I think it had something to do with the melody from 'Like This, Like That' being *cough* lifted from Armin's 'Blue Fear'.

Since when did cheese necessarily mean the track was shit? I thought you'd know better than that.
