Sublime, Minimal.. or whatever you like to call it.

It takes first 20 seconds to know a track is good or not.

I hate tracks which dont build up to anything..

I was recently listening to this album by 'The Feild' named - 'From here we go sublime' based on someones recomendation.. and the whole album is just so shit..

Tracks start and they keep it same the entire track.. no change, no buildup, no change again.. same beats, same random single key they puched on synth the first time.. and its that same key thats throughout the entire track.

It has 10 tracks.. and 10 different keynotes.. that is it..

I guess its some new genre that came up.. what is it called? Sublime? Minimal? Miniscual?

Whatever is it.. its disgusting.. minimum thinking to make a track or an album.

first 15 seconds don't mean anything, and it's usually just a beat you can hear anyways.

Maybe fifteen seconds from later on in the track, but not the intro. Unless you're very picky about your 'uhn tiss uhn tiss'.

LOL.. that was hilarious.. uhn tiss uhn tiss..

Ace.

I'd like to give a track about a couple minutes.. some of them can go from shit to good at that point.. and vice versa.

i bet your girlfriend give about as much credit to 'it only takes 15 seconds' as we do

How the heck do you know whether a track "builds up to anything" if you only listen to the first fifteen seconds?

yes, that is why i only listen to sandstorm, sandstorm remixes and sandstorm mashups
only the best will do for me and my 15 second attention span

Look I am not talking about geeral trance tracks that have the first 15 seconds reserved for mixing to anothewr track......... bit this alum.. the so called sublime, minimal, acoustic etc albums.. is just shit.......

I realised that firstt 15 seconds is not enough to judge a track (this is a EDM forum).. but the track should build up to something?????!!! A change of meodly.. or a build up of melody in first part.. but there is nothing.. its called minimal.. sublime.

I don't understand. So, you actually say that the first 15 seconds are NOT enough to judge a track or that they ARE enough to judge a track?

Anyway, its not called "sublime" or "acoustic" lol, "sublime" is not a genre of music. "Acoustic" is often used for something that has "acoustic" (non-electric, non-electronic) instruments, such as "acoustic quitars" etc. so you can use it to describe a rock-song without electric quitars such as a rock-ballad, or even a folk song.

The Field belong to an EDM sub-genre called Minimal Techno, and as the word implies, it is quite repeatetive. Some people like repetition others not, thats all. A lot of EDM, even before "minimal techno", was loopy and repeatetive anyway so this doesn't come as a surprise.

People shouldn't really comment on things they have zero knowledge in.

That takes longer than 15 seconds. Who's got that kind of time?

Exactly...

But when I know its and EDM trance track.. I realise that its ok.. the guy who is producing this track needs to put beats.. so that others mix his track conviniently..

But when the whole track is track is like first 15 tracks.. you call it sublime, minimal.. or shit.

Trouble is, I don't think you really know what you're talking about.

The Field's album got Top Honors for the year of 2007 at Metacritic. Clearly From Here We Go Sublime is doing something your short attention-span is missing that several others enjoy.
