haha, translated it means that people don't always use what god gave them in a manner which reflects their awesome potential

frankly, im of the opinion that if you can't do simple things like sing in tune, your capacity for judging and appreciating music is severely curtailed.

Then i'm glad a vast majority of people beleive your opinions blow , my friend is one of the best composers at melbourne uni and she can't sing to save her life.

Great tune mike, just downloaded yesterday .

i said like champ. like sing in tune, or work structure and beats/time or even (shock horror) compose music. if you disagree that your average punter is useless, id like an explanation for your typical top 40 song.

i also wonder why people feel the need to defend against one person that happens to dislike one tune. i mean, was someone expecting that this would be the first song in the history of music to be liked by 6 billion people?

I'm not going to answer that first part because you're talking shit .

You're offering your opinion without critisism, therefore you're really just talking down the track with no expertise to back it up. Offer usefull advice and tips if you have any, or reasons why the song is not in your taste, otherwise your opinion looks petty.

Posted by daveth on May-10-2008 07:15:

Ummmmm, gonna have to disagree there.

People are entitled to state their opinions, including the fact that they don't think a song is worth raving about, without being obliged to "offer usefull advice and tips" or "expertise to back it up", just as much as the next person who wants to post saying "OMGWTF TUNE!!!"

Else bystanders would get an unrealistic representation of the general consensus now, wouldn't they? We may as well all love everything... "OMG love that car.... OMG love that jacket... OMG love that tune.. OMFG love PKC's mum" ad nauseum

disagree.

though i do agree that i think the tune is average, especially in comparison with some of mikes other work

I didn't say people are not entitled to state their opinions, isn't that the basis of the western world? I said it appears petty/unsubstantiated if you express your opinion (particularly if negative) without backing it up. I'm not saying this like a nazi declaring you can't say "OMFG TUNEZZ BIATCH!!" cause that's just fun .

Isn't pkc's whole arguement based on the idea that peoples opinons of music are worthless unless they poccess a certain level expertise in the area?

I dunno, he'll have to comment. But sitting here with my neighbours 21st party going on on one side of me, and what sounds like a 40th birthday party somewhere on the distant other side, coupled with every person I've ever met/known over 30's tastes in music, coupled with *almost EVERYTHING* I've ever heard on a radio station in this country, ever.... I'm kinda inclined to agree that the majority of people wouldn't know what sounded good if "it came up and bit them in the face" (to quote Strong Bad)

(I'm not saying I don't like this tune BTW, just commenting on PKC's right to comment )
