004 is not an artist album
it's a compilation that includes a few Armin's new remixes and tracks
but overall it's a compilation

Its NOT (yet) released on mp3, it will be ripped in a few days but i buy it, great cd , and armin deserves it

Posted by El~ZaPo on May-17-2002 21:25:

The rip that is out right now is just from the arminvanbuuren.com website, with all the tracks joined together.

Full CD rip should be out soon. Surprised it hasn't been out in full rip yet though.

Hmmm.... so where to buy this online in US or Canada?

a must, imo.

Yes, that would be the title of the CD yes...

Ok, non-smartass answer...
Are you trying to tell us you found it somewhere and has beaten the official release date of May 21st?
That's pretty amazing considering it's not out...

Listened to the set on his homepage; sounds great!

Posted by Philby on May-18-2002 12:30:

Thats just a rip of the webcast songs all joined together. It wasn't done by anyone in a release group. If you bothered to download it, you should have at least noticed that the sound quality is bad. Secondly, there are no rls group name on the end of it, and there are no .nfo inside, just a tracklisting.txt.

Posted by Serp on May-18-2002 15:09:

El~Zapo this brings up a not entirely related subject to this thread at least, but to your comment.. i have never fully understood why people encode mp3s at incredibly high bitrates (320kbps) when the quality of it sounds well below 96kbps

do they expect it to sound better or something?.. its like if you rip a set off the radio and the quality sounds bad, would you really bother encoding it at a high bitrate?

anyway, just my rant

Posted by El~ZaPo on May-18-2002 15:21:

When you encode off the radio to digital format on your computer, it is in WAV format. Roughly 14,400kbps. Not all of that is being put to use since the source is not of high quality in the first place. But then you must compress it to a smaller size in MP3 and the quality will degrade even more. So when you compress to MP3 you want to keep the most quality that you can without the file size being too large. Compressing to MP3 WILL make the sound file sound worse than the original, but not by much if it already sounded low quality.

This tracklisting of 004 upsets me, all mainstream crap. This man has damn good records and needs to put them on CD. I heard him in Toronto and he blew me away. I recognized a few tracks, but for the most part he played banging trance that made my mouth stay dropped for his whole set. Who wants to buy a CD consisting of all songs we have heard over and over again. I am sure this man has a wall full of records that we have never heard before. Put these on your CD and make it stand out!!!!

where to get?
